Okulda dersler (English, Maths, Art) ve eşyalar (book, pen, desk, board) vardır. Sevdiğimiz dersleri like ile söyleriz, sınıftaki eşyaları there is / there are ile söyleriz:
- I like Maths.Matematiği severim.
- There is a board.Bir tahta var. (tek)
- There are ten desks.On sıra var. (çoğul)
- Sevdiğin dersi söyle → I like Art. (Resmi severim.)
- Tek eşya varsa there is, çok eşya varsa there are.
1. like / likes (I like Maths)
Sevdiğin dersi söylemek için like kullanırız. Özne he / she / it ise fiile -s ekleriz: likes.

- I like, you like, we like, they like. Ama he/she/it likes (küçük bir -s)!

2. there is / there are (Bir şey var)
Sınıfta bir şey olduğunu söylemek için there is / there are kullanırız. Tek şey için there is, çok şey için there are:

- Tek eşya → There is a book. Çok eşya → There are five books.
- Çoğulda kelimeye -s gelir: desk → desks, pen → pens.
3. a / an (a book / an eraser)
Tek bir eşya için a ya da an deriz. Kelime a, e, i, o, u sesiyle başlıyorsa an, değilse a:

- Sesli harfle başlıyorsa an: an eraser, an orange.

4. Sorular ve Kısa Cevaplar (Do you...? Is there...?)
Ders sevip sevmediğini sormak için Do you like...?, sınıfta bir şey var mı diye sormak için Is there...? deriz:

5. is / are Doğru Seç (tek mi çok mu?)
Önce say: tek eşya mı, çok eşya mı? Tek ise there is, çok ise there are. Çoğulda kelimeye -s gelir:

İki çocuk okulu konuşuyor. Koyu yazılan kelimelere dikkat et ve iki kez oku:
