Gri ile kısa bir video izle. (Watch a short video with Gri.)
Video çok yakında burada olacak!be + sıfat, nasıl hissettiğimizi ya da bir şeyin nasıl olduğunu anlatır. Türkçesi "...-ım / ...-sın / ...-dır" gibidir. Yapı hep aynıdır: özne + am / is / are + sıfat:
Önce doğru be kelimesini seçeriz. Kime göre değişir: I → am, he/she/it → is, you/we/they → are. Sonra sıfatı ekleriz:
| Özne | be | Örnek |
|---|---|---|
| I | am | I am happy. |
| He / She / It | is | She is sad. |
| You / We / They | are | They are tired. |
"...değil" demek için be'den sonra not koyarız: am not / is not / are not. Kısaca isn't / aren't de deriz:
| Uzun | Kısa | Örnek |
|---|---|---|
| is not | isn't | He is not sad. = He isn't sad. |
| are not | aren't | We are not tired. = We aren't tired. |
| am not | — | I am not angry. |
Konuşurken be'yi özneye yapıştırırız. Anlamı aynıdır, sadece daha kısadır:
| Uzun | Kısa | Örnek |
|---|---|---|
| I am | I'm | I'm happy. |
| You are | You're | You're funny. |
| He is | He's | He's tired. |
Soru sormak için am / is / are'ı başa alırız: Am / Is / Are + özne + sıfat? Cevaplar çok kolaydır:
| Soru | Evet | Hayır |
|---|---|---|
| Are you happy? | Yes, I am. | No, I'm not. |
| Is she tired? | Yes, she is. | No, she isn't. |
| Are they hungry? | Yes, they are. | No, they aren't. |
Cümlede be'yi asla unutmayız: önce özne, sonra be (am/is/are), sonra sıfat. be olmadan cümle eksik kalır!
| Yanlış ✗ | Doğru ✓ |
|---|---|
| I happy. | I am happy. |
| She sad. | She is sad. |
| They hungry. | They are hungry. |

Hi! I am Mia. Today is a big day at school. I am very happy because it is my birthday. My friends are happy too, and they sing a song for me.
It is a bright morning. Our classroom is full of colours. On the wall, there is a big chart of faces: a happy face, a sad face, an angry face, and a tired face. Every day our teacher asks us, "How are you today?" We like this question. Feelings are important, and it is good to talk about them.
Look at Tom. He is not happy. He is sad because his dog is sick. I give him a big hug. Now he is a little better and he smiles.
Lily is very tired. She is sleepy because her baby brother cries at night. She wants to rest on her desk.
Ben and Sam are hungry. It is lunchtime. "We are so hungry!" they say. Soon they eat their sandwiches and they are happy again.
Near the door, my friend Deniz is excited. He has a new red pencil case, and he wants to show it to everyone. "Look at my pencils!" he says. Ayla is proud today. She has a gold star for her nice picture. She smiles at her drawing of a big blue whale.
Our teacher, Miss Kate, is not angry today. She is calm and kind. But when we are very noisy, she is a little angry. Then we are quiet.
When we finish our work, we are calm and quiet, and Miss Kate is happy with us. Good work makes her smile. She says, "You are a wonderful class." Then we feel proud too. A kind word can change a sad day into a good one.
Sometimes we play a fun feelings game. One child makes a face, and we guess: happy, sad, angry, or surprised? We laugh a lot when the faces are very funny. It is easy to be happy with good friends around you. A big smile is the best thing to share at school.
Look! Emma is scared. There is a big spider on the wall. "Are you scared?" I ask. "Yes, I am!" she says. She is not brave now. Our teacher is nice and the spider goes away. At the end of the day, we are all happy and a little tired. Are you happy today too?
Feelings come and go, like clouds in the sky. In the morning some children are sleepy, and after lunch they have lots of energy. Sometimes we are a little nervous before a test, but our friends help us. We talk, we laugh, and soon we feel better together.
At home, I tell my mother about my day. "Today Tom was sad, but I helped him," I say. She gives me a big hug. "You are a good friend, Mia," she says. That makes me happy. Tomorrow is a new day, with new feelings for all of us.
