Alışverişte bir şeyin fiyatını sorarız ve bir şey isteriz. En önemli kalıplar bunlar:
- How much is it? → fiyat sorusu (asking the price)How much is the ball? (Top kaç lira?)
- It is ... lira. → fiyat cevabı (the price)It is five lira. (Beş lira.)
- I want ... → bir şey istemek (asking for a thing)I want a red ball. (Kırmızı bir top istiyorum.)
- Fiyat sorarken → How much is it? Cevap verirken → It is ... lira.
- Bir şey isteyince → I want a ... ya da I want two ...
1. Numbers 1-20 (Sayılar 1-20)
Fiyatları söylemek için sayıları bilmeliyiz. Önce 1-20 arasını öğrenelim:

- 13-19 arası hep -teen ile biter: thirteen, fifteen, seventeen.
2. Numbers 20-100 (Onluk Sayılar)
Büyük fiyatlar için onlukları bilmeliyiz. Bunlar -ty ile biter:

- Onluk + tek: araya - koyarız → twenty-one, fifty-five, ninety-nine.
- 40 = forty (dikkat: "four" gibi u yok!).
3. How much is it? (Fiyat Sorusu)
Bir şeyin fiyatını sormak için How much kullanırız. Tek şey için is, çok şey için are gelir:

4. It is ... lira. (Fiyat Cevabı)
Fiyatı söylerken It is ... lira (tek şey) ya da They are ... lira (çok şey) deriz:

- Tek şey → It is (It's). Çok şey → They are (They're).
- lira her zaman aynı kalır: five lira, fifty lira (liras demeyiz).
5. I want ... (... istiyorum)
Dükkânda bir şey istemek için I want deriz. Tek şey için a / an, çok şey için sayı gelir:

- Sesli harfle başlarsa an: an apple, an egg. Diğerlerinde a: a ball, a pen.
6. Cheap / Expensive (ucuz / pahalı)
Bir çocuk dükkânda fiyat soruyor. Koyu yazılan kalıplara dikkat et ve iki kez oku:
- — How much is the ball?Top kaç lira?
- — It is five lira. It is cheap!Beş lira. Ucuz!
- — How much is the teddy bear?Oyuncak ayı kaç lira?
- — It is fifty lira. It is expensive!Elli lira. Pahalı!
- — OK. I want the ball, please.Tamam. Topu istiyorum, lütfen.
- — Here you are. That is five lira.Buyurun. Beş lira eder.
- "How much are the ball?" ✗ → "How much is the ball?" ✓ (tek şey → is).
- "It is five liras." ✗ → "It is five lira." ✓ (lira hep aynı).

Today I am at the toy shop with my mom. The shop is big and colourful. I want a new ball. "How much is the ball?" I ask. The man says, "It is ten lira." Ten lira is cheap! I am happy.
I love this toy shop. It is near my house, and it is open every day. There are toys on every shelf. There are balls, cars, dolls, kites, and teddy bears. The colours are bright: red, blue, green, and yellow. My mom holds my hand, and we look at everything together.
There is a big box of small toys near the door. Inside, there are marbles, stickers, and little cars. They are very cheap. I look at them, but today I only want my new ball. My mom says, "You can choose one more thing next time." I say, "Okay, thank you!" She is a very kind mom.
There are many toys here. I see a red car and a small doll. "How much is the red car?" I ask. "It is twenty lira," says the man. The car is nice, but I want the ball more.
Next to the red car, there is a blue kite. The kite is light and pretty. "Can we buy the kite too?" I ask. My mom smiles. "Not today," she says. "We can come again next week." I understand. I still want my new ball the most.
My mom wants two pens. "How much are the pens?" she asks. "They are five lira," says the man. Five lira for two pens is very cheap.
The pens are green and very nice for school. My mom writes with a pen every day at work. Two pens for five lira is a good price. She is happy. "Thank you," she says to the man. She puts the two pens in her bag.
I look at a big teddy bear. "How much is the teddy bear?" The man says, "It is fifty lira." Fifty lira is expensive! I do not have fifty lira. I have fifteen lira in my bag.
The teddy bear is big and soft and brown. It has two black eyes and a red nose. I like it a lot, but fifty lira is a lot of money. I only have fifteen lira in my little bag. So the teddy bear stays on the shelf. Maybe on my birthday!
I buy the ball and one pen. The ball is ten lira and the pen is three lira. That is thirteen lira. My mom pays the money. "Thank you!" I say. Now I am very happy. I love the toy shop!
At the counter, I give my money to the man. The ball is ten lira and one pen is three lira. Ten and three make thirteen lira. My mom pays for her two pens too. We say "Goodbye!" and we walk home. I am so happy with my new ball.
