Bazı şeyler her zaman doğrudur: suyu ısıtırsan kaynar, buzu ısıtırsan erir. Bu tür genel gerçekleri, kuralları ve talimatları anlatmak için zero conditional (sıfır koşul) kullanırız. İngilizcede bunu tek kalıpla söyleriz: "If you heat water, it boils." Buradaki if "eğer" değil, aslında "her ne zaman / -diğinde" anlamına gelir — çünkü sonuç hep aynıdır.
Dikkat et: her iki bölümde de fiil present simple (geniş zaman). "Will" ya da "would" yok. Bu bölümde yapıyı, if=when farkını, virgül kuralını ve talimat cümlelerini adım adım öğreneceğiz.
Zero conditional'ın iki bölümü vardır ve ikisi de present simple'dır. There is no future and no "will" here — hem koşul hem sonuç geniş zamandadır çünkü bu her zaman geçerli bir gerçektir.

Zero conditional'ın en tipik işi bilimsel gerçekleri ve değişmez kuralları anlatmaktır. Sebep-sonuç her seferinde aynı olduğu için geniş zaman kullanırız. Türkçedeki "-sa/-se ...-ir" mantığına çok benzer.
Zero conditional'da if yerine when kullanabilirsin ve anlam neredeyse aynı kalır. Çünkü sonuç her zaman gerçekleşir — "eğer" değil, "her ne zaman olursa" demektir. This is special to the zero conditional.

Sonuç bölümü bir emir / talimat da olabilir. Kurallar, tarifler ve makine talimatlarında bunu çok görürsün. Bu durumda ana bölüm emir kipiyle (yalın fiil) başlar.

Cümleyi iki farklı sırayla kurabilirsin ve virgül bu sıraya bağlıdır. The rule is simple and it never changes:

The Green Club is a friendly place near our school, and it runs on simple ideas. The children who work here believe that good habits make good days. If you ask them their secret, they always give the same answer: 'We follow our rules, and the rules keep us happy.' Everybody learns fast, because the club feels like a small, happy family.
The Green Club is a small, busy place with simple rules, and everyone follows them. If you join the club, you learn the rules on your first day. Our teacher, Miss Aylin, always says the same thing: if the team works together, the day is easier.
The first rule is about the hot-chocolate machine. If the red light comes on, the water is too hot. When the water is too hot, the hot chocolate tastes bad, so the children wait. If the light turns green, they make the hot chocolate. This rule never changes, and the hot chocolate is always good.
The children are always patient with the machine. If they wait a little, the light changes, and everything is fine. If they stay calm, the hot chocolate is good every time. Miss Aylin says, 'If you rush, you spill; if you wait, you win.' So nobody ever hurries near the hot machine.
Miss Aylin has a simple idea about visitors. If the visitors are happy, they come back. If they come back, the club gets bigger. "If you smile," she tells the children, "people feel welcome." So the children smile, even on a hard day.
There are more friendly rules at the club. If a new child arrives, an older child shows them around. If someone feels sad, the others sit with them. If the room gets messy, everybody helps to clean it. These rules are easy, and if you are kind, you never forget them.
There are clear instructions on the wall too. If the phone rings, answer it politely. If a friend waits more than five minutes, offer a free cake. If you break a glass, tell Miss Aylin at once. The rules are short, so nobody forgets them.
Science helps in many small ways here. If you add sugar to warm milk, it melts quickly. If you leave bread in the open air, it goes hard. If you wash the cups in hot water, they dry faster. The children love these little facts, because science makes their work easier.
Visitors often ask why the Green Club feels so warm. The answer is simple. If people are polite, everyone feels welcome. If the team shares the work, nobody gets tired. When the children help each other, the club becomes a place where problems disappear.
Science helps in the kitchen as well. If you heat milk slowly, it does not burn. If you keep the fruit in the fridge, it stays fresh for days. Everyone at the Green Club knows one thing for sure: if you follow the rules, the day is always easier and everybody stays healthy and happy.

Kurallar, tarifler ve genel gerçekler yazarken en doğru araç zero conditional'dır: sebep-sonuç ilişkisini tek, temiz bir kalıpta anlatır (If + present, present). Bir de bağlaçları (and, but, so, because...) eklersen, yazın hem net hem akıcı olur.
