Selam, ben yine Gri. Bu ünitede tam şu an olan eylemleri anlatıyoruz: mesajlaşmak, müzik dinlemek, ders çalışmak, spor yapmak. Yapı hep aynı: am / is / are + fiil-ing: I am texting my friend. She is listening to music. They are studying for the exam. Türkçesi "...-ıyor / -iyor" demektir. Başlayalım.

Present Continuous Ne Demek? (What is it?)

Present Continuous, tam şu an olan eylemleri anlatır. Türkçesi "...-ıyor / -iyor" demektir. Yapı her zaman aynıdır: am / is / are + fiil-ing. Genelde now, right now, at the moment gibi işaret kelimeleriyle gelir:

I am texting my friend.Arkadaşıma mesaj atıyorum. (şu an)
She is listening to music.O müzik dinliyor. (şu an)
They are studying for the exam right now.Onlar tam şu an sınava çalışıyor.

Kolay yol

Cümle iki parçadır: önce be (am/is/are), sonra fiil-ing. İkisi de olmalı.
now, right now, at the moment gördüğünde bu zamanı düşün: bir şey tam şu an oluyor.

1. am / is / are Seç (be + verb-ing)

Önce özneye göre doğru be kelimesini seçeriz: I → am, he/she/it → is, you/we/they → are. Sonra fiile -ing ekleriz:

Kolay yol

I am, he/she/it is, you/we/they are. Bunu bir ritim gibi ezberle.
be'yi unutma: "She listening." ✗ → "She is listening." ✓

2. Fiile -ing Ekle (spelling)

Fiilin sonuna -ing ekleriz. Çoğu fiil çok kolaydır; birkaç küçük yazım kuralı vardır:

çoğu fiil: +ing	text	texting
sonda -e varsa: -e at, +ing	take	taking
kısa fiil: son harfi ikizle	run	running

Altın kural

Çoğu fiil için sadece +ing yeter: listen → listening, watch → watching.
take → taking (e düşer), run → running (n ikizlenir).

3. Şu An Oluyor (now / right now / at the moment)

Bu zaman, tam şu an olan şeyler içindir. Türkçe -ıyor / -iyor ile biter. Sık kullanılan işaret kelimeleri:

now, right now, at the moment gördüğünde → fiil-ing kullan.
Türkçesi hep -ıyor ile biter: texting = mesajlaşıyor.

4. Olumsuz, Soru ve Kısa Cevaplar (isn't / aren't · Are you...?)

Olumsuz için be'den sonra not gelir: am not / isn't / aren't. Soru sormak için be'yi başa alırız: Am / Is / Are + özne + fiil-ing? Kısa cevaplar çok kolaydır:

Kısa cevaplarda fiili tekrar etmeyiz:

Dikkat

Soruda be en başa gelir: Are you texting? ("You are texting?" değil.)
Kısa cevapta fiili tekrarlamayız: "Yes, I am." ("Yes, I am studying." demeyiz.)

5. Sık Yapılan Hatalar (Common Mistakes)

Bu tabloyu kontrol listen yap. Kendi cümlelerini yazarken bu hataları yapma:

6. Birlikte Görelim (Two Friends Chat)

İki genç şu an ne yaptıklarını mesajlaşarak konuşuyor. Koyu yazılan kelimelere dikkat et ve iki kez oku:

— Hey, what are you doing?Selam, ne yapıyorsun?
— I am studying for the maths exam, and I am listening to music too.Matematik sınavına çalışıyorum, bir de müzik dinliyorum.
— Is your brother studying as well?Kardeşin de çalışıyor mu?
— No, he isn't. He is playing football with his friends right now.Hayır. O tam şu an arkadaşlarıyla futbol oynuyor.
— Are you texting Deniz at the moment?Şu an Deniz'le mesajlaşıyor musun?
— Yes, I am. We are planning our project because it is due tomorrow.Evet. Projemizi planlıyoruz çünkü yarın teslim.

Sık yapılan hatalar

"She listening." ✗ → "She is listening." ✓ (be'yi unutma).
"I am study." ✗ → "I am studying." ✓ (fiil-ing olmalı).
"You are texting?" ✗ → "Are you texting?" ✓ (soruda be başa gelir).

Dikkat: t ikizlenir (chat → chatting).

run → running (koşuyor)

Dikkat: n ikizlenir (run → running).

"She is running in the park."

taking (v-ing)

take → taking (fotoğraf çekiyor)

Dikkat: e düşer (take → taking).

"He is taking a photo."

practising (v-ing)

practise → practising (antrenman yapıyor)

"The team is practising for the match."

scrolling (v-ing)

scroll → scrolling (telefonda geziniyor)

"I am scrolling on my phone."

Kurallar

Cümle iki parçadır: be + fiil-ing (I am studying).
Doğru be'yi seç: I am, he/she/it is, you/we/they are. En az bir now / right now / at the moment kullan.

A Busy Afternoon

Hi! I am Elif and I am sixteen. It is Wednesday afternoon and everyone at home is busy right now. I am sitting at my desk and I am studying for the biology exam. My phone is next to me, so I am also texting my classmate about the homework.

My room is not big, but I love it. A big window is next to my desk, and the afternoon sun is coming in. My biology book is open, and my green pen is in my hand. I am making a short list of important words for the test. Sometimes I stop and I look out of the window for a minute. Then I read my notes again. Studying is hard work, but I feel calm and happy right now.

The big exam is on Friday, so I am reading my notes again and again. I am not watching any videos now because I really want a good grade. My cat Pamuk is sitting on my books, and she is sleeping in the warm sun. Are you studying hard this week too?

Pamuk is a lovely white cat, and she is very lazy today. She is not moving at all. Her eyes are closed, and she is breathing slowly. I want a photo of her, so I am picking up my phone now. "Stay there, Pamuk!" I am saying softly. She is still sleeping, so she is not listening to me. My best friend Ada is texting me too. She is asking about question five, and I am helping her with the answer.

Our class has a group chat on the phone. Many students are online right now. Some friends are asking questions, and other friends are sharing answers. One boy is sending funny pictures, so everybody is laughing. I am reading the messages quickly, but I am not chatting too much, because I really need to study. After the exam on Friday, we all want to relax together.

My older brother Kaan is in his room. He isn't studying at the moment — he is playing an online game and chatting with his teammates. My little sister Zeynep is listening to music with her headphones, and she is scrolling on her tablet.

Kaan loves computer games, and he plays every afternoon. His room is very noisy right now. His friends are talking on the microphone, and they are laughing together. Kaan is holding his controller, and his eyes are big and happy. He is not doing his homework yet, but he says he will start later. I am shaking my head and smiling, because my brother is always the same.

Kaan is happy because his team is winning, so he is shouting at the screen. "Come and watch!" he is saying, but I am not moving from my desk. Zeynep isn't doing her homework yet; she is dancing to her favourite song in front of the mirror.

Zeynep is only ten, and she loves music videos. She is copying the dance from her favourite singer. Her feet are moving fast, and she is having a lot of fun. "Look at me!" she is saying, but nobody is watching her. Kaan is still playing his game, and I am still reading my notes. Our house is loud and busy, but this is normal for a Wednesday.

In the garden, my father is practising basketball because there is a company match on Saturday. My mother is running on the treadmill, and she is watching a series at the same time. Our neighbour is helping my father, and the two men are laughing a lot.

The garden is full of noise too. My father is wearing his old sports shoes, and he is jumping to reach the basket. He is not very fast, but he is trying hard. My mother is on the treadmill near the door, and she is running quite fast today. She is laughing at the funny parts of her series. Everybody in my family is doing sport or something fun this afternoon.

Soon I am getting a little hungry, so I am thinking about a snack. A nice smell is coming from the kitchen downstairs. I am closing my book for two minutes, and I am walking to the door. My family is still busy, and everyone is smiling. I am taking one more photo, because I want to remember this happy day.

My grandmother is in the kitchen, and she is making tea for everybody right now. She is also baking a cake because it is my birthday tomorrow! Everybody is doing something different, but we are all enjoying this busy, happy afternoon together. What are you doing right now? Are you having fun too?
