Merhaba! Ben Gri. Bu ünitede İngilizcenin en çok kullanılan fiiliyle tanışıyoruz: "be" (am / is / are). Kendini, arkadaşlarını ve çevreni anlatmanın temeli bu. Hazırsan başlayalım.

"be" Nedir? (What is "be"?)

Kendinden, arkadaşlarından ve çevrenden bahsederken İngilizcede "be" fiilini çok sık kullanırsın. Örnekler:

"I am fifteen."On beş yaşındayım. (yaş)
"She is my best friend."O benim en iyi arkadaşım. (arkadaş)
"We are in the same class."Aynı sınıftayız. (okul)
"This is my phone."Bu benim telefonum. (eşya)
"My friends are online."Arkadaşlarım çevrimiçi. (sosyal medya)
"I am good at football."Futbolda iyiyim. (spor)

Gördüğün gibi "be" fiili cümlede am, is veya are olarak karşına çıkar:

"I am ready."Hazırım.
"She is ready."O hazır.
"We are ready."Biz hazırız.

Hangi kelimeyle am, is veya are kullanacağını şimdi birlikte göreceğiz.

1. Kişi Kelimeleri (Subject Pronouns)

Cümlede "kim?" sorusunun cevabı özne kelimesidir. İngilizcedeki yedi kişi kelimesi:

they	onlar	Birden çok kişi ya da eşya: "They are in my class."

Dikkat

Türkçedeki tek "o", İngilizcede üçe ayrılır: he (erkek), she (kız), it (hayvan/eşya).
Bir arkadaşın için "it" kullanma: "My friend? It is nice." ✗ → "She is nice." ✓

2. Doğru Formu Seç: am / is / are

Kural sade ve değişmez. Sadece üç grup var:

Kolay yol

I → am. Sadece "I" ile "am" kullanılır.
he / she / it (tek kişi/şey) → is.
you / we / they (birden çok) → are.
Konuşurken kısa form kullanırız: "I am" yerine "I'm", "she is" yerine "she's".

3. "değil" Demek: not (Negative)

Bir şey "değil" demek için be'den sonra not eklersin:

Not

"I" için sadece "I'm not" vardır. "I amn't" diye bir şey yoktur. ✗

4. Soru Sormak (Questions)

Soru sormak için be fiili öznenin önüne geçer. Türkçedeki "mi" ekinin işini bu yapar:

You are online. → Are you online?Çevrimiçisin. → Çevrimiçi misin?
He is in your class. → Is he in your class?O senin sınıfında. → O senin sınıfında mı?

Kısa cevaplar da kolaydır:

Dikkat

Evet cevabında kısaltma yapma: "Yes, I'm." ✗ → "Yes, I am." ✓
Soru kelimeleriyle de aynı sıra: "What is your name?", "How old are you?"

5. Sık Yapılan Hatalar (Common Mistakes)

İki genç okulda tanışıyor. Koyu yazılan "be" kelimelerine dikkat et ve iki kez oku:

All About Elif

Hi! My name is Elif and I am fifteen years old. I am from İzmir, a big city by the sea. I am a student at Atatürk High School, and I am in class 9-B. English is my favourite lesson, and I am good at it. Maths is not easy for me, but I am okay.

My school day is busy but fun. I get up at seven o'clock every day. I go to school by bus. The bus is always full. My first lesson is at eight o'clock. I have six lessons every day. My favourite lessons are English and art. Art is easy and fun for me. I am good at drawing. My English teacher is Mr. Kaya. He is young and kind. Our classroom is big and bright. My desk is next to the window. I am happy in my class.

This is my family. My mother is a doctor and she is very busy. My father is an engineer. This is my little brother. His name is Can and he is seven years old. He is funny, but he is not always kind! We are a happy family.

My grandmother lives with us. Her name is Nur. She is sixty-eight years old. She is very kind and calm. She is a great cook, and her food is delicious. We have a pet too. It is a cat. Its name is Pamuk. Pamuk is white and soft. He is very lazy, but he is cute. He sleeps all day. I play with him after school. My grandmother and my cat are always at home. My home is warm and happy. My weekend is calm and happy. I am free, and I am never bored.

This is my phone. It is new and it is blue. It is my favourite thing. My friends are online in the evening, so we are never bored. We are happy on the internet together. Saturday is my favourite day because there is no school and I am free.

I use my phone every day. I have many apps on it. I chat with my friends, and I watch short videos. I take photos of my cat too. In the evening, my friends and I play a game online. It is a fun game, and I am good at it. We are a small team in the game. My favourite food is pizza. I eat pizza on Friday with my family. Water and orange juice are my favourite drinks. I am always happy when we eat together at home.

Every day is a little different for me. On school days, I am busy with lessons and homework. On free days, I am with my friends and my family. I like my simple life. My city is beautiful, and the sea is close to my home. In summer, we swim in the sea. In winter, we drink hot tea at home. I am a lucky girl. My family is kind, my friends are fun, and my school is good.
