Read the rules, study the examples, then do the exercises.
Bu bölümde altın kuralı (olumlu→olumsuz, olumsuz→olumlu), be / do / have / modal eşleşmesini ve birkaç önemli istisnayı öğreneceğiz. Adım adım gidelim.
Question tag'in mantığı bir terazi gibidir: cümle bir yöne giderse, ek ters yöne gider.
|---|---|---|---|
| She is happy, | olumlu → | isn't she? | değil mi? |
| She isn't happy, | olumsuz → | is she? | değil mi? |
| They came, | olumlu → | didn't they? | değil mi? |
| They didn't come, | olumsuz → | did they? | değil mi? |
Cümlede be fiili (am, is, are, was, were) varsa, soru eki de aynı be fiilini kullanır. Başka yardımcıya gerek yoktur.
Cümlede be ya da modal yoksa (yani geniş zaman ya da geçmiş zaman düz fiil varsa), soru eki do / does / did ile kurulur — tıpkı normal soru yaparken olduğu gibi.
| Zaman | Cümle | Soru eki |
|---|---|---|
| Present (I/you/we/they) | You like tea, | don't you? |
| Present (he/she/it) | She works here, | doesn't she? |
| Past | They went home, | didn't they? |
Cümlede bir modal (can, will, should, must...) ya da yardımcı have varsa, soru eki aynı kelimeyi tekrar eder.
| Yardımcı | Cümle | Soru eki |
|---|---|---|
| can | You can drive, | can't you? |
| will | She will come, | won't she? |
| should | We should wait, | shouldn't we? |
| have (perfect) | You have finished, | haven't you? |
|---|---|---|
| I am late, | aren't I? | "amn't I" yok; "aren't I" kullanılır. |
| Let's go, | shall we? | "Let's..." teklifi → hep shall we. |
| Open the door, | will you? | Emir cümlesi → will you. |
| She never lies, | does she? | never = olumsuz → olumlu ek. |
Türkçe konuşanların soru eklerinde en sık yaptığı hatalar aşağıda. Kendi cümlelerini yazarken bu listeyle kontrol et:
| Yanlış ✗ | Doğru ✓ | Neden? |
|---|---|---|
| You are tired, are you? | You are tired, aren't you? | Olumlu cümle → olumsuz ek. |
| She likes tea, likes she? | She likes tea, doesn't she? | Fiili tekrar etme; do/does kullan. |
| He can swim, can he? | He can swim, can't he? | Olumlu modal → olumsuz ek. |
| I am next, amn't I? | I am next, aren't I? | "amn't" yok; "aren't I" kullan. |
| Let's eat, will we? | Let's eat, shall we? | "Let's..." → shall we. |
| She never smiles, doesn't she? | She never smiles, does she? | never olumsuzdur → olumlu ek. |
Şimdi her şeyi bir arada görelim. Two friends chat before a trip. Koyu yazılan soru eklerine ve olumlu/olumsuz yöne dikkat ederek iki kez oku:
Choose the correct answer. (Doğru cevabı seç.) — 10 soru, her soru anında değerlendirilir.
Learn the words, then check facts and ask for agreement with question tags.
Write 8 sentences that end with a question tag. Use at least 8 of the words above. (Her biri soru ekiyle biten 8 cümle yaz. Yukarıdaki kelimelerden en az 8'ini kullan.)
Sentence starters (Cümle başlatıcıları — istersen bunlarla başla):
Read the dialogue, then answer the questions. (Diyaloğu oku, sonra soruları cevapla.)
İyi okuyucular metne hazırlıklı girer. Before you read, think about these three questions (cevapları yazmana gerek yok):
Words to spot (Metinde geçen, Speaking bölümünden tanıdığın kelimeler): plan · invite · surprise · guest · arrive · quiet · ready · wonderful · remember · forget
Aylin and Mert are planning a surprise party for their friend Can. Can's birthday is on Saturday, and he doesn't know anything about the party.
Can is a good friend to everyone. He is kind, funny, and always ready to help. When someone is sad, Can makes them laugh. When someone needs help, Can is there. "Can does so much for us, doesn't he?" Aylin says one day. "Yes, he really does," Mert answers. "This year, we should do something special for him." A surprise party is a perfect idea. Can loves people, and he loves music and cake. So a party is right for him, isn't it? Aylin and Mert are very happy with their new plan.
But a surprise party is not easy. There is a lot to think about, isn't there? On Monday, the two friends meet at a small café near the park. They order two cups of tea and sit at a quiet table. Aylin takes out her notebook. "Let's make a list, shall we?" she says. "Good idea. We must not forget anything." They write down every job: the place, the cake, the music, the food, and the guests. A list is very useful, isn't it? Now they feel ready to start. They begin with the most important questions.
"We are going to have the party at your house, aren't we?" Aylin asks. "Yes, we are," Mert says. "My flat is big enough, isn't it? We can put the table near the window." "That's a good idea. You've already bought the cake, haven't you?" Aylin asks. "No, not yet. I'll buy it tomorrow morning."
"Okay. Can loves chocolate cake, doesn't he? Let's get a big chocolate one, shall we?" "Perfect. And we need to tell the other friends the time. They don't know it yet, do they?" "No, they don't. I'll send a message tonight. Everyone must arrive before eight, because Can comes at half past eight."
"Good. Aylin, you can bring the music, can't you? You have those great speakers." "Of course I can. Don't worry about the music. But we mustn't tell Can anything, must we?" "No, we mustn't! It's a surprise. Close the door quietly when he comes, will you? We don't want him to hear us."
"I won't say a word. This is going to be a wonderful evening, isn't it?" "It is. Can is going to be so happy. He never expects a party, does he?" "Never! That's why it will be a great surprise."
The plan was ready, but there was still a lot of work to do. First, they thought about the room. "We need some decorations, don't we?" Aylin said. "Yes. Let's buy some balloons and a few lights." Can's favourite colours are blue and gold, so they chose those. Aylin will also make a big paper sign. It will say "Happy Birthday, Can!" in large letters. She is good at drawing, isn't she? Mert will hang the balloons on the wall near the window. The room is not very big, but with balloons and lights, it will look wonderful.
Next, they talked about the food. "People will bring something too, won't they?" Aylin asked. "Of course. I'll ask everyone to bring one small plate." Some friends will bring sandwiches, and some will bring fruit. One friend makes very good cookies, and she will bring a big box. Mert will buy juice, water, and some crisps. And there is the chocolate cake, of course. Together, they will have enough food for everyone. "Nobody will be hungry, will they?" Mert said with a laugh. "No, nobody!" Aylin answered. Good food makes a party happy, doesn't it?
Then came the guests. Can has many friends, so the list was long. There is Deniz from work, and there are two friends from school, Elif and Ozan. Can's cousin Berk will come too. "Berk lives in another city, doesn't he?" Aylin asked. "Yes, but he arrives on Saturday morning. He is very happy about the party." In total, about ten people will come. That is a good number for a small flat, isn't it? Not too many, not too few. Everyone knows Can well, and everyone wants to see his happy face on his birthday.
There was only one problem: the secret. "We mustn't tell Can anything, must we?" Aylin said again. "No, we mustn't! Not one word." This is the hard part of every surprise. Can sees his friends every day, so they must be careful. If someone says the wrong thing, the surprise is over. "Let's be very careful this week, shall we?" Mert said. They will not talk about the party near Can. They will not write about it online. And if Can asks about Saturday, they will only say, "We have no plans." A good secret needs strong friends, doesn't it?
That night, Mert sent a message to all the guests. The message said the day, the time, and the address. "Please arrive before eight," he wrote, "and please be quiet on the stairs!" One by one, the friends answered. "We will be there, won't we?" they said to each other. Everyone was excited. A few friends asked good questions. "Should we bring a small gift?" Elif asked. "Yes, but keep it simple," Mert answered. "Can doesn't like big gifts, does he?" Now everybody knew the plan, and everybody was ready to help. The surprise felt closer and closer.
Saturday came at last. The friends started early. Mert cleaned his flat and moved the sofa near the wall. Aylin arrived at four o'clock with the balloons and the big sign. They put the balloons on the walls and the sign over the door. Mert bought the chocolate cake in the morning, just as he said. He also bought plates, cups, and cold juice. "Everything is ready, isn't it?" Aylin asked at seven o'clock. "Almost. We only need the candles." They found the candles in a small box. Now the flat looked beautiful, and it smelled like fresh cake.
Soon the guests began to arrive, one by one. They all came before eight o'clock, and they were very quiet. Nobody talked loudly, and nobody turned on the big lights. At half past eight, Can will open the door. Then everyone will shout "Surprise!" at the same time. Can will be so surprised, won't he? Maybe he will laugh, and maybe he will almost cry with joy. Aylin and Mert looked at the cake, the balloons, and the happy faces of their friends. "We planned it well, didn't we?" Aylin whispered. "Yes," Mert smiled. "This is going to be a wonderful night."
Choose the correct answer. (Doğru cevabı seç.)
Are these sentences true or false? (Bu cümleler doğru mu yanlış mı?)
Complete each sentence with the correct question tag from the text. (Cümleleri metindeki doğru soru ekiyle tamamla. "?" yazmana gerek yok.)
Write your answer in your own words. (Cevabını kendi cümlelerinle yaz.) Bu sorular otomatik puanlanmaz.
1. Who is the party for, and does that person know about it?
2. What jobs do Aylin and Mert share for the party?
3. Why must everyone be quiet when Can arrives?
Metindeki question tag'leri bul ve her birinin türünü (be / do-does / modal-have / istisna) belirle. (Writing bölümünde bu yapıları kendi yazında kullanacaksın.) Bulduklarını not et, sonra kontrol et.
Play a "Am I right?" game, then do the extra practice quiz.
Make a guess about your partner and end each sentence with a question tag. Doğruysa "Yes, I do/am..." diye onaylasın; yanlışsa düzeltsin. Önce örnek diyaloğa bak:
Şimdi sıra sende. Say each idea out loud as a statement + question tag — sesli olarak, doğru eki ekleyerek.
(Write down your sentences and submit them for feedback — optional.) 4-6 cümle, her biri bir question tag ile bitsin.
Değerlendirme öğretmenin tarafından yapılacak. (Your teacher will review your speaking task.)
10 questions on question tags — be, do/does/did, modal/have and the exceptions mixed. (10 soru: karışık soru ekleri.) Her soru anında değerlendirilir.
Write and submit your dialogue; your teacher will review it. (Diyaloğunu yaz ve gönder; öğretmenin değerlendirecek.)
Sadece düz cümleler bir konuşmayı yapay gösterir. What makes a conversation sound real is question tags: onlarla bilgi doğrular ve karşındakinden onay istersin. Bir de bağlaçları (and, but, so, because, when...) eklersen, sohbetin akıcı ve gerçekçi olur.
Farkı gör — aynı bilgiler, iki farklı yazım:
| Düz, yapay cümleler ✗ | Question tag + bağlaç ile ✓ |
|---|---|
| You are Deniz. You live in Izmir. You like the sea. We should meet. | You're Deniz, aren't you? You live in Izmir, don't you, because you love the sea? Let's meet there, shall we? |
A2 boyunca öğrendiğin bağlaçlar. This is your toolbox — bunları question tag'lerle birlikte kullan:
| Bağlaç | Anlamı | Örnek |
|---|---|---|
| and | ve | You're kind and funny, aren't you? |
| but | ama | It's small but nice, isn't it? |
| so | bu yüzden | He is friendly, so people like him, don't they? |
| because | çünkü | You love the café because it's quiet, don't you? |
| when | -diğinde | She smiles when she sees you, doesn't she? |
Write a short dialogue between you and a friend who are planning something together (a party, a trip or a picnic). Use question tags to check the details and ask for agreement.
Değerlendirme öğretmenin tarafından yapılacak. (Your teacher will evaluate your writing.)
Mixed questions from the whole unit, then check what you can do. (Ünitenin tamamından karışık sorular; sonra neler yapabildiğini işaretle.)
14 questions: grammar + vocabulary + reading. (14 soru: gramer + kelime + okuma.) Her soru anında değerlendirilir.
Tick what you can do now. Honest answers help your teacher. (Şu an yapabildiklerini işaretle. Dürüst cevaplar öğretmenine yol gösterir.)
