IELTS Speaking, bir insanla yüz yüze yapılan 11-14 dakikalık bir sohbettir; ezber değil, gerçek iletişim ölçülür. Bu rehber üç bölümü tek tek açar, dört değerlendirme kriterinde band 5 ile band 9 arasındaki farkı somut örneklerle gösterir ve akıcılık, kelime, telaffuz için sınavda işe yarayan kalıpları verir.
IELTS Speaking is an 11–14 minute conversation held face to face with a person; it measures real communication, not memorisation. This guide opens up the three parts one by one, shows the difference between band 5 and band 9 across the four assessment criteria with concrete examples, and gives you patterns for fluency, vocabulary and pronunciation that work in the exam.
|---|---|---|---|
| Part 1 — Introduction & Interview | 4-5 dk | Kimlik doğrulama + tanıdık konularda (ev, iş, hobi) kısa sorular | Günlük konularda rahat konuşma |
| Part 2 — Long Turn (Cue Card) | 3-4 dk | 1 dk hazırlık + 1-2 dk kesintisiz tek başına konuşma | Bir konuyu tek başına, uzun uzun anlatma |
IELTS Speaking is a live, one-to-one, face-to-face (or video) interview with an examiner. Its total length is 11–14 minutes and it is recorded from start to finish. The Speaking section is exactly the same in the Academic and General Training modules. The examiner tries to put you at ease but gives your score according to a standard band descriptor table; that is, it is not a "good impression" but measurable language performance that matters.
| Part | Time | What happens? | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Part 1 — Introduction & Interview | 4-5 min | Identity check + short questions on familiar topics (home, work, hobbies) | Speaking comfortably on everyday topics |
| Part 2 — Long Turn (Cue Card) | 3-4 min | 1 min preparation + 1-2 min of uninterrupted solo speaking | Describing a topic on your own, at length |
| Part 3 — Discussion | 4-5 min | Abstract, debatable questions linked to the Part 2 topic | Generating ideas, justifying, comparing |
Speaking is not a "question-answer test" but a speaking performance. The examiner expects you to extend your sentences and develop your thought. One-word or one-sentence answers, however correct, get a low band because you do not produce enough language to be assessed.
|---|---|
| 5 | Sık ve uzun duraksama; tekrar ve kendini düzeltme akışı bozar; basit bağlaçlar (and, but, because) tekrar eder |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | Sınırlı, günlük kelime; tekrar; konu spesifik kelime az | I was very very tired. |
| 6 | Konu hakkında yeterli kelime; bazı yanlış seçimler | I was really exhausted. |
| 7 | Esnek kelime; bazı deyimsel dil; iyi collocation | I was completely worn out. |
| 8 | Geniş, kesin kelime; doğal deyim kullanımı | I was absolutely drained by the end of it. |
| 9 | Tam doğallık ve incelik; her nüansı yakalar | I was running on empty after such a gruelling day. |
İki şeyi birlikte ölçer: çeşitlilik (basit + karmaşık yapılar, farklı zamanlar, koşul cümleleri, ilgi cümlecikleri) ve doğruluk (hata oranı). Sadece kısa doğru cümleler kurmak band 6'yı geçmez; karmaşık yapıları deneyip çoğunlukla doğru kullanmak gerekir.
| Band | Grammatical Range & Accuracy görünümü |
|---|---|
|---|---|
| 5 | Bazı özellikleri kontrol eder ama tutarsız; zaman zaman anlaşılırlık düşer |
| 6 | Vurgu/tonlamayı dener; genelde anlaşılır ama bazı hatalı sesler dikkat dağıtır |
| 7 | Çok çeşitli telaffuz özelliği; genelde iyi kontrol; anlaşılırlık yüksek |
| 8 | Geniş özellik yelpazesi; nadir anlaşılırlık sorunu; aksan iletişimi engellemez |
| 9 | Tüm özelliklerde kesin ve zahmetsiz kontrol; her zaman kolay anlaşılır |
Your score is the average of four criteria, and each makes up 25% of the total. Because the criteria are equally weighted, saying "my vocabulary is great but my pronunciation is poor" means scoring low on that criterion and dragging the average down. Below, each criterion is explained in depth and the band differences are shown with examples.
Measures how much you express yourself without hesitation and with an orderly flow of ideas. "Fluency" does not mean speed; it means being able to build long, natural sentences and to connect your thoughts with conjunctions. Coherence is the logical ordering of your ideas: cause-effect, exemplification, comparison.
| Band | How Fluency & Coherence looks |
|---|---|
| 5 | Frequent and long hesitation; repetition and self-correction disrupt the flow; simple conjunctions (and, but, because) repeat |
| 6 | Keeps the conversation going but sometimes pauses to search for language; uses conjunctions but sometimes in the wrong place |
| 7 | Speaks at length; hesitations come from searching for content, not language; a variety of conjunctions used fluently |
| 8 | Effortless, coherent; rarely hesitates; develops and links ideas flexibly |
| 9 | Fully natural flow; every kind of connection flawless; hesitation only for emphasis |
Measures how wide and precise your vocabulary is, and whether you use topic-appropriate collocations and idioms correctly. The key concept is paraphrasing: being able to switch to synonymous expressions instead of repeating the same word.
| Band | How Lexical Resource looks | Example (same idea: "I was very tired") |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | Limited, everyday vocabulary; repetition; little topic-specific vocabulary | I was very very tired. |
| 6 | Enough vocabulary about the topic; some wrong choices | I was really exhausted. |
| 7 | Flexible vocabulary; some idiomatic language; good collocation | I was completely worn out. |
| 8 | Wide, precise vocabulary; natural use of idiom | I was absolutely drained by the end of it. |
| 9 | Full naturalness and subtlety; captures every nuance | I was running on empty after such a gruelling day. |
Measures two things together: range (simple + complex structures, different tenses, conditionals, relative clauses) and accuracy (error rate). Building only short correct sentences will not get you past band 6; you need to attempt complex structures and use them mostly correctly.
| Band | How Grammatical Range & Accuracy looks |
|---|---|
| 5 | Mostly simple sentences; frequent errors in complex structures; errors sometimes distort meaning |
| 6 | A mix of simple and complex structures; errors frequent in complex sentences but meaning is preserved |
| 7 | A variety of complex structures; many error-free sentences; errors are infrequent |
| 8 | A wide range of structures; mostly error-free; rare, non-systematic errors |
| 9 | Full flexibility and accuracy; errors as rare as a native speaker's |
Not just producing the sounds correctly; intelligibility, word and sentence stress, intonation and connected speech are measured. Having an accent is not a problem — imitating a British/American accent is not required. What matters is that the examiner understands you without effort.
| Band | How Pronunciation looks |
|---|---|
| 5 | Controls some features but inconsistently; intelligibility drops at times |
| 6 | Attempts stress/intonation; generally intelligible but some faulty sounds distract |
| 7 | A wide variety of pronunciation features; generally good control; high intelligibility |
| 8 | A wide range of features; rare intelligibility issues; accent does not impede communication |
| 9 | Precise, effortless control of all features; always easy to understand |
|---|
| Do you work or are you a student? · Where do you live? · Do you like your neighbourhood? · What do you usually do in your free time? · Do you prefer tea or coffee? · How often do you use public transport? · Did you enjoy studying English at school? |
Zayıf cevap (tek kelime/cümle — band 5):
Güçlü cevap (Cevap + Neden + Örnek — band 7+):
In Part 1 the examiner asks short questions on familiar and personal topics about you: where you live, your work/school, your hobbies, food, the weather, travel. The questions are easy — the trap is answering too briefly. The rule: never answer any question in a single sentence.
Extend every question in three steps: (1) give a direct answer, (2) add the reason, (3) finish with an example, detail or comparison. This produces a natural two-to-three-sentence response — neither too short nor rehearsed-sounding and long.
| Typical Part 1 questions |
|---|
| Do you work or are you a student? · Where do you live? · Do you like your neighbourhood? · What do you usually do in your free time? · Do you prefer tea or coffee? · How often do you use public transport? · Did you enjoy studying English at school? |
Weak answer (one word/sentence — band 5):
Strong answer (Answer + Reason + Example — band 7+):
Görevli size bir cue card (konu kartı), bir kalem ve kâğıt verir. Bir konu ve altında yönlendirici üç-dört madde vardır. 1 dakika hazırlık süreniz olur; ardından 1-2 dakika kesintisiz tek başınıza konuşursunuz. Görevli araya girmez, sadece dinler ve süreyi tutar.
Cümle yazmaya çalışma — vaktin yetmez. Bunun yerine her maddenin yanına 2-3 anahtar kelime yaz. Amacın "okuyacağın metin" değil, hatırlatıcı harita oluşturmak. En güçlü strateji: soyut yönergeyi somut, gerçek bir örneğe bağlamak (uydurma bir olay bile olsa, anlatması kolay olanı seç).
| Örnek Cue Card | |
|---|---|
| Describe a skill you would like to learn. You should say: — what the skill is — why you want to learn it — how you would learn it and explain how this skill would change your life. |
Model 2-dakika cevap (açıklamalar köşeli parantez içinde):
The examiner gives you a cue card, a pencil and paper. There is a topic with three or four guiding bullet points beneath it. You get 1 minute of preparation; then you speak uninterrupted for 1–2 minutes on your own. The examiner does not interrupt, only listens and keeps time.
Do not try to write sentences — you won't have time. Instead, write 2–3 keywords next to each bullet. Your aim is not "a text to read" but a reminder map. The strongest strategy: tie the abstract prompt to a concrete, real example (even a made-up event — choose the one that is easy to tell).
| Sample Cue Card | |
|---|---|
| Describe a skill you would like to learn. You should say: — what the skill is — why you want to learn it — how you would learn it and explain how this skill would change your life. |

Part 3, Part 2'nin konusuyla bağlantılı ama soyut ve genel sorular içerir. Artık kendinizden değil, toplumdan, geleceğe dair eğilimlerden, avantaj-dezavantajlardan konuşursunuz. Bu bölüm en çok ayırt eden bölümdür çünkü fikir üretme ve gerekçelendirme yeteneğini ölçer.
Karşı görüşü kabul etmek (concession) sofistike düşünme gösterir ve band'i yükseltir. Kendi görüşünde dururken diğer tarafı da tanı: “That said…”, “While it's true that…, I still believe…”.
(1) Net bir görüş belirt, (2) mantıklı bir gerekçe sun, (3) somut bir örnekle destekle, (4) mümkünse diğer tarafı da kabul et. Karşı görüşü kabul etmek (concession) sofistike düşünme gösterir ve yüksek band getirir.
| Part 3 tipik soru tipleri (Part 2 "skill" konusundan) |
|---|
| Why do you think some skills are disappearing nowadays? · Is it better to learn a skill from a teacher or on your own? · Should schools teach more practical skills? · Do you think technology will make certain skills unnecessary in the future? |
Part 3 contains questions that are linked to the Part 2 topic but abstract and general. Now you talk not about yourself but about society, future trends and advantages-disadvantages. This is the most discriminating part because it measures your ability to generate and justify ideas.
Conceding the opposing view (concession) shows sophisticated thinking and raises your band. While standing by your own view, acknowledge the other side too: "That said…", "While it's true that…, I still believe…".
(1) State a clear opinion, (2) give a logical reason, (3) support it with a concrete example, (4) if possible, acknowledge the other side. Conceding the opposing view (concession) shows sophisticated thinking and earns a high band.
| Typical Part 3 question types (from the Part 2 "skill" topic) |
|---|
| Why do you think some skills are disappearing nowadays? · Is it better to learn a skill from a teacher or on your own? · Should schools teach more practical skills? · Do you think technology will make certain skills unnecessary in the future? |
Akıcılık, hiç duraksamamak değildir — ana dili konuşanlar da duraksar. Önemli olan duraksamayı sessizlikle değil, dille doldurmak. Aşağıdaki üç araç, düşünürken bile konuşmaya devam etmenizi sağlar.
That's an interesting question… / Let me think for a moment… / Well, I've never really thought about that, but… / I suppose the best way to put it is…

Fluency is not never hesitating — native speakers hesitate too. What matters is filling the hesitation with language, not silence. The three tools below let you keep talking even while you think.

Yüksek band, "zor kelime" değil doğru kelimeyi doğru yerde kullanmaktır. En etkili yol, konu-bazlı collocation (birlikte kullanılan kelime grupları) öğrenmek. Tek tek kelime ezberlemek yerine, sık geçen IELTS konularında (iş, eğitim, teknoloji, çevre, sağlık) kalıp öbekler biriktirin.
| Konu | Doğal collocation'lar (band 7+) |
|---|---|
| İş / Kariyer | a demanding job · to climb the career ladder · a steep learning curve · to strike a work-life balance |
| Eğitim | to broaden your horizons · hands-on experience · to grasp a concept · a well-rounded education |
| Teknoloji | to keep up with the latest trends · at your fingertips · a double-edged sword · to be glued to a screen |
| Çevre | to cut down on waste · a carbon footprint · to raise awareness · environmentally friendly |
Deyimler (idioms) doğru kullanılırsa Lexical Resource'u yükseltir, ama zorlama ve yanlış kullanım tam tersini yapar. Kural: yalnızca tam emin olduğun ve doğal aktığı yerde kullan. Güvenli, sık kullanılan konuşma dili deyimleri: once in a blue moon (çok nadir), a piece of cake (çok kolay), to be on the same page (hemfikir), to get the hang of it (kapmak, alışmak). Bir yanıta beş deyim tıkıştırmak ezber izlenimi verir; bir-iki tanesi yeterlidir.
A high band is not using "hard words" but using the right word in the right place. The most effective way is to learn topic-based collocations (groups of words used together). Instead of memorising words one by one, build up ready-made phrases in frequent IELTS topics (work, education, technology, environment, health).
| Topic | Natural collocations (band 7+) |
|---|---|
| Work / Career | a demanding job · to climb the career ladder · a steep learning curve · to strike a work-life balance |
| Education | to broaden your horizons · hands-on experience · to grasp a concept · a well-rounded education |
| Technology | to keep up with the latest trends · at your fingertips · a double-edged sword · to be glued to a screen |
| Environment | to cut down on waste · a carbon footprint · to raise awareness · environmentally friendly |
Idioms raise your Lexical Resource if used correctly, but forcing them and using them wrongly does the opposite. The rule: use one only where you are completely sure and where it flows naturally. Safe, common spoken idioms: once in a blue moon (very rarely), a piece of cake (very easy), to be on the same page (to agree), to get the hang of it (to get used to something). Cramming five idioms into one answer sounds rehearsed; one or two is enough.
Telaffuz kriteri dört katmandan oluşur; her birini ayrı çalışmak puanı ölçülebilir biçimde yükseltir. Aksanınızı silmeye değil, anlaşılır ve doğal olmaya odaklanın.
Her çok heceli kelimenin bir vurgulu hecesi vardır; yanlış hece anlamı bozar. PHO-to-graph vs. pho-TO-gra-pher. Yeni kelimeyi vurgusuyla birlikte öğren. Detay: Kelime Vurgusu.
İçerik kelimeleri (isim, fiil) vurgulanır; dilbilgisi kelimeleri (of, the, to) zayıflar. Bu ritim İngilizce'yi doğal yapar. Detay: Cümle Vurgusu.
Sesin inip çıkması ilgi ve anlam taşır; düz ton sıkıcı ve robotik algılanır. Soru, liste, karşıtlık farklı tonlar ister. Detay: Tonlama.
Doğal konuşmada kelimeler birbirine bağlanır: "want to" → "wanna", "an apple" → "anapple". Bunu tanımak ve üretmek akıcılık izlenimini artırır. Detay: Bağlı Konuşma.
The Pronunciation criterion has four layers; working on each separately raises your score measurably. Focus not on erasing your accent but on being clear and natural.
Every multi-syllable word has one stressed syllable; the wrong one distorts the meaning. PHO-to-graph vs. pho-TO-gra-pher. Learn a new word together with its stress. Detail: Word Stress.
Content words (nouns, verbs) are stressed; grammar words (of, the, to) weaken. This rhythm makes English natural. Detail: Sentence Stress.
The rise and fall of the voice carries interest and meaning; a flat tone reads as dull and robotic. Questions, lists and contrasts need different tones. Detail: Intonation.
In natural speech, words link together: "want to" → "wanna", "an apple" → "anapple". Recognising and producing this improves the impression of fluency. Detail: Connected Speech.
Aynı soruya verilen iki cevap, doğruluk açısından ikisi de "anlaşılır" olabilir; farkı yaratan genişletme, kelime seçimi ve yapı çeşitliliğidir. Aşağıda aynı Part 1 sorusuna band 6 ve band 8 yanıtları karşılaştırılmıştır.
| Soru: Do you enjoy cooking? |
|---|
| 6 Yes, I enjoy cooking. I cook every day for my family. It is relaxing and I like to try new recipes sometimes. It is a good hobby. |
| 8 I do, yes — although I'd say it's more of a stress-reliever than a hobby for me. After a hectic day at work, there's something wonderfully therapeutic about chopping vegetables and losing yourself in a recipe. I'm not the most adventurous cook, to be honest, but every now and then I'll have a go at something ambitious — and even when it's a complete disaster, it's still good fun. |
Two answers to the same question can both be "intelligible" in terms of accuracy; what makes the difference is extension, word choice and structural variety. Below, band 6 and band 8 answers to the same Part 1 question are compared.
| Question: Do you enjoy cooking? |
Görevliler ezberlenmiş yanıtları anında fark eder — akış aniden pürüzsüzleşir, göz teması kaybolur, konu tam oturmaz. Ezber, band düşürür. Kalıp öğren ama içeriği anlık üret.
"Yes." / "No." / "Sometimes." tek başına ölümcül. Görevli seni genişletmeye zorlamak zorunda kalırsa, değerlendirilecek dilin azalır. Her yanıtı en az iki-üç cümleye çıkar.
Soruyu anlamadığında sus kalma. "Sorry, could you rephrase that?" demek tamamen kabul edilebilir ve puan düşürmez.
Examiners spot memorised answers instantly — the flow suddenly becomes smooth, eye contact is lost, the topic does not quite fit. Memorisation lowers your band. Learn patterns but generate the content on the spot.
"Yes." / "No." / "Sometimes." on their own are fatal. If the examiner has to push you to extend, the language to assess shrinks. Take every answer to at least two or three sentences.
Do not go silent when you don't understand the question. Saying "Sorry, could you rephrase that?" is entirely acceptable and does not lower your score. Silence, however, hits your fluency score directly.
In Part 3 there is no single correct view. The examiner is not interested in your opinion; they are interested in how you justify it. Choose the view you can defend comfortably, not the "correct" one.
Only error-free but simple sentences peak at band 6. Take a risk: attempt complex structures. The odd error is penalised less than never attempting any complexity.
Do not try to imitate the examiner's accent. Speak with your own intelligible pronunciation; imitation breaks naturalness and distracts.
Türkçede karşılığı olmayan bazı İngilizce sesler, anlaşılırlığı ve dolayısıyla telaffuz puanını etkiler. Bilinçli çalışmayla hepsi düzelir.
| Ses | Sorun | Örnek / İpucu |
|---|---|---|
| /θ/ ve /ð/ (th) | Türkçede yok; genelde "t/d" ya da "s/z" ile karıştırılır | think, this, weather — dili üst dişlerin arasına hafifçe koy |
| /w/ vs /v/ | Türkçe "v" ile "w" ayrımı zayıf | west / vest, wine / vine — /w/ için dudaklar yuvarlak, dişler değmez |
| /ɪ/ vs /iː/ | Kısa-uzun i ayrımı yapılmaz | ship / sheep, live / leave |
| /æ/ | Türkçe "a" ile "e" arası ince ses | cat, man, bad — çeneyi aç, "e"ye yaklaştır |
| Sonda ünsüz yığını | Türkçe araya ünlü eklemeye iter | asked, sixth, worlds — araya "ı" ekleme |
| Kelime başı /h/ düşürme | Bazı adaylar "h"yi yutar | house, happy — nefesli "h" sesini koru |
Bu seslerin en verimli çalışma yolu minimal pairs (tek ses farkıyla ayrılan kelime çiftleri) alıştırmasıdır. Ayrıntı için: Minimal Çiftler ve Zayıf Formlar.
Some English sounds that have no Turkish equivalent affect intelligibility and therefore your pronunciation score. With conscious practice they all improve.
| Sound | The problem | Example / Tip |
|---|---|---|
| /θ/ and /ð/ (th) | Not in Turkish; usually confused with "t/d" or "s/z" | think, this, weather — place the tongue lightly between the upper teeth |
| /w/ vs /v/ | The Turkish "v"/"w" distinction is weak | west / vest, wine / vine — for /w/ round the lips, teeth do not touch |
| /ɪ/ vs /iː/ | The short-long "i" distinction is not made | ship / sheep, live / leave |
| /æ/ | A thin sound between Turkish "a" and "e" | cat, man, bad — open the jaw, move towards "e" |
| Consonant clusters at the end | Turkish pushes you to insert a vowel | asked, sixth, worlds — do not insert an "ı" |
| Dropping word-initial /h/ | Some candidates swallow the "h" | house, happy — keep the breathy "h" sound |
The most productive way to work on these sounds is a minimal pairs exercise (word pairs differing by a single sound). For detail: Minimal Pairs and Weak Forms.
Bu üç kural, Gri kamp materyalinin özüdür. Sınavda panik anında hatırlaman gereken, düşünmeden uygulayacağın refleksler. Ezberle değil, alışkanlık haline getir.
Tek kelimelik cevap, uzun sessizlik ve “I don't know” — bu üçü Speaking'de doğrudan puan öldürür. Aşağıdaki üç kural tam olarak bu üç refleksi tersine çevirir.
Her cevabın iskeleti aynı: Cevap + Sebep + Örnek. Tek kelimelik yanıt sıfır puandır. "Do you like reading?
"I don't know" demek görevliye "değerlendirecek dilim yok" demektir ve konuşmayı öldürür. Bilmesen bile tahmin et, konuyu bildiğin bir alana çek, ama susma. Örneğin uzay teknolojisi hakkında fikrin yoksa: "Honestly, it's not something I know much about, but if I had to guess, I'd say…" diye başla ve kendi deneyimine bağla. Fikir eksikliği değil, sessizlik puan kaybettirir.
These three rules are the essence of the Gri camp material. They are the reflexes you should remember in a moment of panic in the exam and apply without thinking. Do not just memorise them — turn them into a habit.
One-word answers, long silences and "I don't know" — these three kill your score directly in Speaking. The three rules below reverse exactly these three reflexes.
The skeleton of every answer is the same: Answer + Reason + Example. A one-word answer is zero points. "Do you like reading? → Yes." produces no language to assess; the examiner has to push you to extend and your fluency score drops. Even for a short question, your reflex should be three sentences: first give the answer, then add the reason, and finish with a concrete example.
Instead of staying silent while your brain builds the next sentence, fill the thinking gap with language. These phrases are natural, native speakers use them too; silence, on the other hand, hits your fluency score directly.
Saying "I don't know" tells the examiner "I have no language to assess" and kills the conversation. Even if you don't know, guess, pull the topic into an area you know, but don't go silent. For example, if you have no idea about space technology: begin with "Honestly, it's not something I know much about, but if I had to guess, I'd say…" and tie it to your own experience. It is not a lack of ideas but silence that loses points.
Her Part'ın kendi kalıbı vardır. Kalıbı ezberle, içeriği anlık üret. Aşağıda her bölüm için iskelet ve tam bir model cevap var.
Kısa, doğal, kişisel. Üç adımlı üç cümle yeterli.
Kartı tanıt, her maddeyi sırayla genişlet, sonunda neden sevdiğini/önemsediğini değerlendirerek kapat. İskelet kalıpları:
Net bir görüş al, karşı tarafın baskısını/zorluğunu kabul et, sonra kendi gerekçenle görüşünde dur.
Each Part has its own pattern. Memorise the pattern, generate the content on the spot. Below is a skeleton and a full model answer for each part.
Short, natural, personal. Three sentences in three steps is enough.
Introduce the card, expand each bullet in order, and close by evaluating why you like/value it. Skeleton patterns:
Take a clear opinion, acknowledge the pressure/difficulty of the other side, then stand by your view with your own reasoning.
Çoğu öğrenci cue card'ı bir dakikada bitirip susar. Sebebi konuşacak şey bulamamak değil, her maddeye ne kadar süre ayıracağını bilmemek. Aşağıdaki dağılım iki dakikayı tam doldurur. Notunla birlikte bu tempoyu içselleştir.
| Zaman | Ne yapıyorsun | Nasıl | Kaç cümle |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0:00 – 0:15 | Giriş | I'd like to talk about… Konuyu tanıt. Bir cümle yeter. | 1 cümle |
| 0:15 – 0:40 | Madde 1 | İlk maddeyi anlat. Bir bilgi, bir detay. | 2 cümle |
| 0:40 – 1:05 | Madde 2 | İkinci maddeyi anlat. Aynı tempo. | 2 cümle |
| 1:05 – 1:30 | Madde 3 | Üçüncü maddeyi anlat. Burada bir örnek ver. | 2-3 cümle |
| 1:30 – 2:00 | Son madde | Genelde "and explain why" ile başlar. En uzun bölüm burasıdır. Duygu ve değerlendirme ekle. | 3-4 cümle |
Most students finish the cue card in one minute and fall silent. The reason is not a lack of things to say but not knowing how much time to give each bullet. The distribution below fills the two minutes exactly. Internalise this pace along with your notes.
| Time | What you are doing | How | How many sentences |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0:00 – 0:15 | Introduction | I'd like to talk about… Introduce the topic. One sentence is enough. | 1 sentence |
| 0:15 – 0:40 | Bullet 1 | Cover the first bullet. One piece of information, one detail. | 2 sentences |
| 0:40 – 1:05 | Bullet 2 | Cover the second bullet. Same pace. | 2 sentences |
| 1:05 – 1:30 | Bullet 3 | Cover the third bullet. Give an example here. | 2-3 sentences |
| 1:30 – 2:00 | Final bullet | Usually starts with "and explain why". This is the longest part. Add feeling and evaluation. | 3-4 sentences |
Part 1 tanıdık temalarda döner. Aşağıdaki setlerle pratik yap; her soruyu Cevap + Sebep + Örnek kalıbıyla, tek cümleyle geçmeden cevapla.
Model cevap (Free Time setinden, üç cümle):
Model cevap (Weather setinden, üç cümle):
Part 1 revolves around familiar themes. Practise with the sets below; answer every question with the Answer + Reason + Example pattern, without passing it in a single sentence.

Cue card'lar hep aynı yapıdadır: bir konu ve altında yönlendirici maddeler (You should say…). Aşağıda dört tipik kart var. Her biri için 1 dakikada anahtar kelime notu al, sonra tempo haritasına göre iki dakika konuş.
Describe a place you like to visit.
You should say:
— where it is
— how often you go there
— what you do there
— and explain why you like it
Describe a person who helped you.
You should say:
— who the person is
— how you know them
— what they did
— and explain why this help was important to you
Describe a skill you would like to learn.
You should say:
— what the skill is
— why you want to learn it
— how you would learn it
— and explain how it would change your life
Describe a book or a film you enjoyed.
You should say:
— what it was
— when you read or watched it
— what it was about
— and explain why you enjoyed it
Tam model konuşma (Kart 1 için, tempo haritasına uygun, band 7 seviyesinde — dikkat: good, nice, interesting yerine kesin sıfatlar):
Cue cards always have the same structure: a topic with guiding bullets beneath it (You should say…). Below are four typical cards. For each, take keyword notes in 1 minute, then speak for two minutes according to the pace map.

Full model talk (for Card 1, following the pace map, at band 7 level — note: precise adjectives instead of good, nice, interesting):
Part 3 soyut ve toplumsaldır. Kendi hayatından değil, genel eğilimlerden konuşursun. Kalıp: Görüş + Karşı baskı + Kendi gerekçen (ya da genişletilmiş hali: Görüş + Gerekçe + Örnek + Karşı görüş).
Model cevap (Environment setinden, görüş–karşı baskı–gerekçe kalıbında):
Part 3 is abstract and societal. You talk not about your own life but about general trends. The pattern: Opinion + Counter-pressure + Your own reasoning (or its extended form: Opinion + Reason + Example + Counter-view).
Model answer (from the Environment set, in the opinion–counter-pressure–reasoning pattern):
