İki Monolog Tabanlı Task
Tek konuşmacı, bilgilendirici amaç. Announcement kısa ve pratik, Academic Talk uzun ve akademik. Note-taking kritik.
Bu iki task tek bir kişiden gelen bilgi akışını test eder. Karşılıklı konuşma yok, bu yüzden bilgi yoğun ve hızlı. Note-taking burada en kritik beceri.
Announcement:
- 40-85 kelime uzunluğunda kısa duyuru.
- Kampüs etkinliği, ders programı değişikliği, kütüphane saatleri, güvenlik bildirimi gibi içerikler.
- Genelde 2 soru gelir: ana amaç + spesifik detay.
- Pratik bilgilere (tarih, saat, yer, eylem) odaklı.
Academic Talk:
- 60-90 saniye uzunluğunda mini akademik ders.
- Bir kavram açıklama, süreç tanıtma veya iki görüş karşılaştırma yapar.
- 4 soru gelir: main idea + detail + purpose + organization.
- Eski TOEFL'in uzun lectures'larının (5-7 dakika) kısaltılmış hali.
Önemli: Academic Talk her saniye bilgi yoğun. Yeni format eski lecturelar'a göre çok daha kısa. Hiçbir cümleyi atlamayı göze alamazsın.
İki Task Yapısı
5 Adımlı Strateji
- Announcement'ta ilk cümlede konuyu yakala. "Good morning, students. I'm here to talk about..." → konu hemen anlaşılır. Ana amaç bu cümlede.
- Spesifik bilgileri sembolle yaz. Tarih → mm/dd. Saat → 14:00. Oda → Rm 305. Bunlar sorunun çekirdeği.
- Academic Talk'ta yapı kelimelerine dikkat. "First...", "Second...", "On the other hand...", "In conclusion..." → organizasyon sorularının cevabı.
- Profesör tekrarlarsa not al. "The key point is...", "What's important here is..." → kritik bilgi vurgulanıyor demektir. Soru kaynağı.
- Soruları okurken note'unu tara. "What is the main purpose?" → not'un başına bak. "What does the professor say about X?" → X'i not'larda ara.

Academic Talk'ta her örneği yazmaya çalışmak. Konuşmacı 2-3 örnek verebilir, en kritiği yakalamak yeter.
Ana Amaç vs Detay Karıştırma
Announcement'ta "What is the main purpose?" sorusuna spesifik bir detayla cevap vermek.
Karşıtlıkları Atlamak
Academic Talk'ta "but", "however", "in contrast" gibi kelimelerden sonra gelen bilgiyi atlayıp önceki bilgiyi tutmak.

This change is due to the campus-wide power outage scheduled for the 15th. Please submit your papers through the Canvas portal as usual. If you have any technical issues, contact the IT helpdesk by email rather than coming in person."
Soru: What is the main purpose of this announcement?
- A) To explain how to contact the IT helpdesk.
- B) To warn students about the power outage.
- C) To inform students that the paper deadline has been changed.
- D) To require students to use Canvas.
Analiz:
- İlk cümle: "the deadline... has been moved" → ana amaç bu.
- Diğer cümleler destekleyici (neden, nasıl, alternatif).
A: IT helpdesk bir alternatif detay, ana amaç değil (Tuzak 02).
B: Power outage neden, asıl mesaj değil.
D: Canvas önceden de zorunlu ("as usual"), yeni bilgi değil.
Ana amaç ipucu: Announcement'ta ana amaç genelde ilk cümle veya başlangıçta belirtilir. "I want to remind...", "I'm here to announce...", "Please note that..." gibi giriş kalıpları ana mesajı işaret eder.

"For centuries, scientists believed that the moon was geologically dead, with no volcanic or seismic activity. However, recent missions have completely overturned this view. Data from the Apollo seismometers, combined with newer observations, indicate that the moon does experience small but regular moonquakes. Some of these quakes appear to be caused by the moon slowly shrinking as its interior cools. This finding has important implications for future lunar bases, as the seismic risk must now be factored into engineering plans."
Soru: Why does the professor mention "for centuries, scientists believed"?
- A) To confirm that the moon is geologically dead.

Analiz:
- "For centuries... However, recent missions..." → karşıtlık yapısı.

Karşıtlık tanıma: "For centuries...However", "Traditionally...But", "Many assume...In contrast" → eski görüş + yeni bulgu yapısı. Sorularda "set up a contrast", "introduce a new perspective" gibi cevaplar gelir.
