Frequency adverbs tell how often an action is repeated in our lives. When you tell someone "I have breakfast", it is not clear whether you do it every day, sometimes, or never. Adverbs like always, usually, often, sometimes, never fill exactly this gap: they give the action's rate of repetition. That is why they are the basic tool in English for describing routines, habits and character traits.
Why does this topic exist? Because most of human speech is about recurring things: "I drink coffee in the mornings", "he is always late", "we rarely eat out". The present simple says that the action happens; the frequency adverb sets it into a rhythm. The two work together, and that is why you see these adverbs most with the present simple.
The Turkish equivalent
Turkish has the same idea: her zaman, genelde, sık sık, bazen, asla. The meaning matches exactly. The difference is not in meaning, but in POSITION. In Turkish you can put these words almost anywhere in the sentence: "Ben her zaman kahve içerim / Kahve içerim her zaman / Her zaman ben kahve içerim" — all three are natural. English, however, gives the adverb a fixed place. This is where the difficulty of the topic lies.
- Sıklık zarfları bir eylemin ne sıklıkta olduğunu söyler: always (%100), usually (~%90), often (~%70), sometimes (~%40), never (%0).
- En kritik kural YER: ana fiilden ÖNCE gelirler — I often read.
- AMA be fiili (am/is/are/was/were) varsa zarf ondan SONRA gelir — She is often busy.
- Yardımcı fiil (have, can, will, do) varsa zarf yardımcıdan sonra, ana fiilden önce gelir — I have never tried it.
- En çok geniş zaman ile kullanılırlar; rutin ve alışkanlık anlatırlar.
- never zaten olumsuzdur; yanına ikinci bir olumsuz (don't/not) KOYMA — I never eat... (❌ I don't never).
- Bazı zarflar (usually, often, sometimes, occasionally) cümle başına ya da sonuna taşınabilir; always ve never genelde taşınmaz.
- Sıklık sorusu: How often do you...? — "Ne sıklıkta...?"
- Türkçe zarfı serbest gezdirir, İngilizce sabit tutar: fark buradadır.
- Frequency adverbs say how often an action happens: always (100%), usually (~90%), often (~70%), sometimes (~40%), never (0%).
- The most critical rule is POSITION: they come BEFORE the main verb — I often read.
- BUT if there is the verb be (am/is/are/was/were) the adverb comes AFTER it — She is often busy.
- If there is an auxiliary verb (have, can, will, do) the adverb comes after the auxiliary and before the main verb — I have never tried it.
- They are used most with the present simple; they describe routines and habits.
- never is already negative; do NOT put a second negative (don't/not) next to it — I never eat... (❌ I don't never).
- Some adverbs (usually, often, sometimes, occasionally) can be moved to the start or end of the sentence; always and never usually cannot.
- Frequency question: How often do you...? — "How often...?"
- Turkish moves the adverb freely, English keeps it fixed: this is the difference.
Sıklık zarflarının "kuruluşu" bir çekim değil, bir yerleştirme meselesidir. Üç senaryoyu ezberlerseniz konunun %90'ını çözersiniz: (1) tek ana fiil varsa zarf onun önünde, (2) be fiili varsa zarf ondan sonra, (3) yardımcı fiil varsa zarf yardımcıdan sonra ana fiilden önce.
Tek ana fiil
Zarf ana fiilden önce: She always reads at night.
be fiili
Zarf am/is/are/was/were'den sonra: He is often late.
Yardımcı fiil
Zarf yardımcıdan sonra, ana fiilden önce: I have never been there.
1) Olumlu cümle — ana fiilden önce
Formül: özne + [sıklık zarfı] + ana fiil + ...
2) be fiili varsa — be'den SONRA
Formül: özne + be (am/is/are/was/were) + [sıklık zarfı] + .... Burada ana fiil yoktur; be'nin kendisi cümlenin fiilidir, bu yüzden zarf onun ARDINA geçer.
3) Yardımcı fiil varsa — yardımcıdan sonra
Formül: özne + yardımcı (have/can/will/do) + [sıklık zarfı] + ana fiil + ...
Olumsuz cümle
Olumsuzda zarf, don't/doesn't yapısıyla dikkat ister. usually, often, sometimes gibi zarflar don't'tan SONRA gelebilir: I don't usually eat meat. Ama never zaten olumsuz olduğu için don't ile birlikte KULLANILMAZ.
never tek başına olumsuzdur: I never eat meat. Doğru. I don't never eat meat. ise çift olumsuzdur ve İngilizcede yanlıştır.
Kısa cevaplar
| Soru | Kısa cevap | Türkçe |
|---|---|---|
| Do you always walk to work? | Yes, I always do. / No, not always. | Her zaman işe yürür müsün? — Evet, hep yürürüm. / Hayır, her zaman değil. |
| Is he often late? | Yes, he often is. / No, he rarely is. | Sık geç kalır mı? — Evet, sık kalır. / Hayır, nadiren. |
| How often do you travel? | Not very often. / Once a month. | Ne sıklıkta seyahat edersin? — Pek sık değil. / Ayda bir. |
The "construction" of frequency adverbs is not a conjugation but a matter of placement. If you memorise three scenarios you solve 90% of the topic: (1) if there is a single main verb the adverb is before it, (2) if there is the verb be the adverb is after it, (3) if there is an auxiliary verb the adverb is after the auxiliary and before the main verb.
Single main verb
The adverb before the main verb: She always reads at night.
the verb be
The adverb after am/is/are/was/were: He is often late.
Auxiliary verb
The adverb after the auxiliary, before the main verb: I have never been there.
1) Affirmative sentence — before the main verb
Formula: subject + [frequency adverb] + main verb + ...
2) If there is the verb be — AFTER be
Formula: subject + be (am/is/are/was/were) + [frequency adverb] + .... There is no main verb here; be itself is the sentence's verb, so the adverb goes AFTER it.
3) If there is an auxiliary verb — after the auxiliary
Formula: subject + auxiliary (have/can/will/do) + [frequency adverb] + main verb + ...
Negative sentence
In the negative, the adverb requires care with the don't/doesn't structure. Adverbs like usually, often, sometimes can come AFTER don't: I don't usually eat meat. But because never is already negative, it is NOT used together with don't.
never is negative by itself: I never eat meat. Correct. But I don't never eat meat. is a double negative and is wrong in English.

Sıklık zarfları tek bir işi yapıyor gibi görünse de birçok bağlamda çalışır. En yaygından özele doğru başlıca kullanımlar şunlardır.
1) Günlük rutin ve alışkanlıklar (en yaygın)
Sıklık zarflarının doğal evi budur: her gün, her hafta tekrarlanan şeyler. Neredeyse her zaman geniş zaman ile gelir.
2) Karakter ve kişilik özellikleri
Birinin nasıl biri olduğunu anlatırken sıklık zarfı huyu kalıcı gösterir. Burada be fiiliyle çok sık karşılaşırsınız.
3) Genel gerçekler ve eğilimler
4) İş ve profesyonel bağlam
5) Seyahat ve deneyim (present perfect ile)
Although frequency adverbs seem to do a single job, they work in many contexts. The main uses, from the most common to the most specific, are as follows.
1) Daily routines and habits (most common)
This is the natural home of frequency adverbs: things repeated every day, every week. It almost always comes with the present simple.
2) Character and personality traits
When describing what kind of person someone is, the frequency adverb makes the trait look permanent. Here you meet the verb be very often.
3) General facts and tendencies
4) Work and professional context
5) Travel and experience (with the present perfect)
Sıklık zarflarını bir ölçek olarak düşünmek en pratik yoldur. %100 (her zaman) ile %0 (asla) arasında dizilirler. Ölçeği görselleştirmek, doğru zarfı seçmeyi kolaylaştırır.
| Zarf | Yaklaşık sıklık | Türkçe |
|---|---|---|
| always | %100 | her zaman |
| usually / normally | ~%90 | genelde / normalde |
| often / frequently | ~%70 | sık sık |
| sometimes | ~%40-50 | bazen |
| occasionally | ~%30 | ara sıra |
| rarely / seldom | ~%10 | nadiren |
| hardly ever | ~%5 | neredeyse hiç |
| never | %0 | asla / hiç |
Sıklık zarflarının yanında, sıklığı daha kesin anlatan zaman ifadeleri de vardır. Bunlar genelde cümle sonunda durur: every day, once a week, twice a month, three times a year, on Mondays, at weekends.
| İfade | Anlam | Örnek |
|---|---|---|
| every day / week / year | her gün / hafta / yıl | I go running every day. |
| once / twice a week | haftada bir / iki kez | She calls me twice a week. |
| three times a month | ayda üç kez | We meet three times a month. |
| on Mondays | pazartesileri | The class is on Mondays. |
| at/on weekends | hafta sonları | I relax at weekends. |
The most practical way is to think of frequency adverbs as a scale. They are ranked between 100% (always) and 0% (never). Visualising the scale makes it easier to choose the right adverb.
| Adverb | Approximate frequency | Turkish |
|---|---|---|
| always | 100% | always |
| usually / normally | ~90% | usually / normally |
| often / frequently | ~70% | often |
| sometimes | ~40-50% | sometimes |
| occasionally | ~30% | occasionally |
| rarely / seldom | ~10% | rarely |
| hardly ever | ~5% | hardly ever |
| never | 0% | never |
Alongside frequency adverbs, there are also time expressions that state frequency more precisely. These usually stand at the end of the sentence: every day, once a week, twice a month, three times a year, on Mondays, at weekends.
| Expression | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| every day / week / year | every day / week / year | I go running every day. |
| once / twice a week | once / twice a week | She calls me twice a week. |
| three times a month | three times a month | We meet three times a month. |
| on Mondays | on Mondays | The class is on Mondays. |
| at/on weekends | at weekends | I relax at weekends. |
Frequency adverbs look simple, but the adverb you choose and its position change the sentence's tone and certainty. Grasping these nuances moves you from A2 to B1.
Degree of certainty
The difference between usually and always is not only a percentage; it is a difference in attitude. always claims no exceptions and puts you in a tight spot if it is wrong; usually makes a safe, realistic generalisation. That is why native English speakers often prefer usually / normally when speaking.
Emphasis and position change
Moving adverbs like Sometimes, usually, often to the start of the sentence emphasises the frequency and adds a natural rhythm to speech. The meaning stays the same but the focus shifts to the adverb.
Politeness and softening
usually / normally can soften a request or a criticism. Saying "we don't usually do it this way" is far more polite than saying "never do this".
Türkçe konuşan öğrenci için sıklık zarflarının anlamı hiç sorun değildir — her zaman, bazen, asla zaten günlük dilimizde. Bütün zorluk YERde düğümlenir. Türkçe cümlede zarfı özgürce gezdirir; İngilizce onu tek bir noktaya çiviler.
- Türkçe: "Ben her zaman erken kalkarım" / "Erken kalkarım her zaman" / "Her zaman erken kalkarım" — üçü de doğal.
- İngilizce: sadece "I always get up early." doğru; zarf ana fiilin önünde sabittir.
- Türkçede fiil sona geldiği için zarf da esnek konumlanır; İngilizcede özne-fiil erken geldiğinden zarfın yeri gramerle belirlenir.
- Türkçe "asla" ile fiili de olumsuz yaparız ("asla gitmem"); İngilizcede never tek başına olumsuzdur, fiili ayrıca olumsuz yapmazsınız.
- Türkçede be karşılığı ("-dır/-tir") ekle geldiğinden "be'den sonra" kuralı bize yabancıdır; bu yüzden 'is always' değil 'always is' deme hatası çok yaygındır.
For a Turkish-speaking student the meaning of frequency adverbs is no problem at all — her zaman, bazen, asla are already in our everyday language. The whole difficulty knots around POSITION. Turkish moves the adverb freely in the sentence; English nails it to a single spot.
- Turkish: "Ben her zaman erken kalkarım" / "Erken kalkarım her zaman" / "Her zaman erken kalkarım" — all three are natural.
- English: only "I always get up early." is correct; the adverb is fixed before the main verb.
- Because the verb comes at the end in Turkish, the adverb is placed flexibly too; in English, because the subject-verb come early, the adverb's position is determined by grammar.
- In Turkish we also make the verb negative with "asla" ("asla gitmem"); in English never is negative by itself, and you do not additionally make the verb negative.
- Because the equivalent of be comes as a suffix in Turkish ("-dır/-tir"), the "after be" rule is foreign to us; that is why the mistake of saying 'always is' instead of 'is always' is very common.
Sıklık zarfları birkaç komşu konuyla karışabilir. Aralarındaki sınırı netleştirmek, doğru yapıyı seçmenizi sağlar.
| Yapı | Ne yapar? | Örnek |
|---|---|---|
| Sıklık zarfı (always/often) | Ne SIKLIKTA olduğunu söyler; orta konumda durur. | I often read. (Sık okurum.) |
| Kesin sıklık ifadesi (every day) | Sıklığı sayıyla verir; genelde cümle SONUNDA. | I read every day. |
| Geniş zaman | Eylemin rutin/gerçek olduğunu söyler; sıklık zarfının ev sahibi. | I read books. (rutin) |
| Karşılaştırma zarfı | İki durumu kıyaslar (more often), sıklık miktarını değil türünü karşılaştırır. | I read more often than my brother. |
Frequency adverbs can be confused with a few neighbouring topics. Clarifying the boundary between them helps you choose the right structure.
| Structure | What it does? | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Frequency adverb (always/often) | Says how OFTEN it happens; stands in mid-position. | I often read. (I read often.) |
| Precise frequency expression (every day) | Gives frequency with a number; usually at the END of the sentence. | I read every day. |
| Present simple | Says the action is a routine/fact; the host of the frequency adverb. | I read books. (routine) |
| Comparative adverb | Compares two situations (more often), comparing not the amount of frequency but its kind. | I read more often than my brother. |
- Vurgu için be'den önce: Duygusal vurgu ya da karşıtlıkta zarf istisnaen be'den önce gelebilir: You ALWAYS are so negative! Bu konuşma dilinde, vurgulu ve enderdir; sınavda tercih etme.
- Kısa cevaplarda: zarf yardımcı fiile yapışır: Yes, I always do. / No, she never does.
The basic rule is solid, but a few special cases stretch it. Knowing them lets you speak naturally at an advanced level.
- Movable adverbs: usually, often, sometimes, occasionally, normally, frequently, generally — can go to the start or end of the sentence for emphasis.
- Non-movable adverbs: always, never, ever, seldom, rarely — these stay in mid-position; if moved to the front they are either wrong or require a very formal/literary inverted structure (inversion).
- Before be for emphasis: For emotional emphasis or contrast the adverb can exceptionally come before be: You ALWAYS are so negative! This is colloquial, emphatic and rare; don't prefer it in an exam.
- In short answers: the adverb sticks to the auxiliary verb: Yes, I always do. / No, she never does.
Sıklık zarfları günlük sohbetin bel kemiğidir. Rutinleri anlatırken, tanışırken, planları konuşurken sürekli karşınıza çıkar. İşte doğal bir diyalog.
Frequency adverbs are the backbone of everyday conversation. They come up constantly when describing routines, meeting people, and discussing plans. Here is a natural dialogue.
- 'usually go to bed' — zarf ana fiilin önünde (kural doğrulanıyor).
- 'is often consumed' — pasif yapıda zarf yardımcı (is) ile ana fiil (consumed) arasında.
- 'hardly ever follow' — olumsuz sıklık zarfı, ikinci bir 'not' almadan olumsuzluk taşıyor.
- 'almost always visible' — be (are) sonrası zarf; 'almost' zarfı yumuşatıyor.
- 'in most cases' — sıklık zarfına akademik alternatif ifade, cümle başında.
- Mutlak 'always/never' yerine temkinli zarfların ağırlıkta olması akademik tonun işaretidir.
In academic and formal writing frequency adverbs are still valuable, but preferences change. Absolute adverbs like always / never strengthen a claim but are risky; academic text generally prefers more cautious expressions like usually, often, frequently, generally, in most cases, tend to. Also, forms like frequently, generally, typically sound more formal than often, usually.
- 'frequently, generally, seldom' sound more formal in academic text than 'often, usually, rarely'.
- 'usually go to bed' — the adverb before the main verb (the rule confirmed).
- 'is often consumed' — in the passive, the adverb between the auxiliary (is) and the main verb (consumed).
- 'hardly ever follow' — a negative frequency adverb carrying negativity without a second 'not'.
- 'almost always visible' — the adverb after be (are); 'almost' softens the adverb.
- 'in most cases' — an academic alternative expression to a frequency adverb, at the start of the sentence.
- The predominance of cautious adverbs instead of the absolute 'always/never' is a sign of the academic tone.
- 'She always wakes up' — always ana fiilin önünde, klasik kural.
- 'she has usually already watered' — yardımcı (has) sonrası zarf; usually + already birlikte diziliyor.
- 'is normally in the kitchen' — be (is) sonrası zarf: 'normally is' değil.
- 'is almost always the last' — be sonrası; 'almost' zarfı 'always'i yumuşatıyor.
- 'is always losing his glasses' — always + -ing: rutin değil, ŞİKÂYET tonu (bkz. incelikler bölümü).
- 'never late for her favourite radio programme' — be (is) sonrası never.
- 'she is never bored' — be sonrası; ikinci bir olumsuz almadan tam olumsuz anlam.
- 'seldom, occasionally, rarely, frequently' — ölçeğin farklı basamaklarını doğal biçimde kullanıyor.
- 'is never annoyed' — be (is) sonrası never; ikinci bir olumsuz olmadan tam olumsuz.
- 'will always appear' — yardımcı (will) sonrası always, ana fiilden (appear) önce.
- 'She always wakes up' — always before the main verb, the classic rule.
- 'she has usually already watered' — the adverb after the auxiliary (has); usually + already lined up together.
- 'is normally in the kitchen' — the adverb after be (is): not 'normally is'.
- 'is almost always the last' — after be; the adverb 'almost' softens 'always'.
- 'is always losing his glasses' — always + -ing: not a routine but a tone of COMPLAINT (see the nuances section).
- 'never late for her favourite radio programme' — never after be (is).
- 'she is never bored' — after be; a fully negative meaning without a second negative.
- 'seldom, occasionally, rarely, frequently' — using different steps of the scale naturally.
- 'is never annoyed' — never after be (is); fully negative without a second negative.
- 'will always appear' — always after the auxiliary (will), before the main verb (appear).

Aşağıdaki sorular kural ezberini değil, anlamı ve mantığı ölçer. Cevaplamadan önce her cümlenin ne demek istediğini düşün.
- 'I usually walk to work' ile 'I always walk to work' arasındaki fark nedir?'usually' istisnalara izin verir (~%90, bazen başka yolla), 'always' ise istisnasızlık iddia eder (%100). 'usually' daha güvenli ve gerçekçidir.
- 'He is always losing his keys' cümlesi bir rutin mi anlatır, yoksa başka bir şey mi?Rutin değil; always + -ing kalıbı burada ŞİKÂYET / rahatsızlık anlatır: 'Sürekli anahtarlarını kaybediyor (ve bu sinir bozucu).'
- 'She never eats meat' cümlesini olumsuz yapmak için 'doesn't' eklemeli miyiz? Neden?Hayır. 'never' zaten cümleyi olumsuz yapar. 'doesn't never' çift olumsuz olur ve yanlıştır.
- Neden 'is often busy' doğru, 'often is busy' yanlıştır?Cümlenin fiili 'be' (is). Sıklık zarfı be fiilinden SONRA gelir; ana fiilden önce gelme kuralı be için geçerli değildir.
- 'Every day' ile 'always' aynı yere mi konur?Hayır. 'always' orta konumda (fiil önünde/be sonrası); 'every day' ise kesin zaman ifadesidir ve genelde cümle SONUNA gelir: 'I walk every day.'
The questions below test not rote memorisation of the rule but meaning and logic. Before answering, think about what each sentence means.
- What is the difference between 'I usually walk to work' and 'I always walk to work'?'usually' allows exceptions (~90%, sometimes another way), whereas 'always' claims no exceptions (100%). 'usually' is safer and more realistic.
- Does the sentence 'He is always losing his keys' describe a routine, or something else? Not a routine; the always + -ing pattern here expresses COMPLAINT / annoyance: 'He keeps losing his keys (and it's annoying).'
- Should we add 'doesn't' to make the sentence 'She never eats meat' negative? Why?No. 'never' already makes the sentence negative. 'doesn't never' would be a double negative and is wrong.
- Why is 'is often busy' correct and 'often is busy' wrong? The sentence's verb is 'be' (is). The frequency adverb comes AFTER the verb be; the before-the-main-verb rule does not apply to be.
- Are 'every day' and 'always' placed in the same position? No. 'always' is in mid-position (before the verb / after be); 'every day' is a precise time expression and usually comes at the END of the sentence: 'I walk every day.'

Görev: Kendi bir günlük rutinini anlatan 6-8 cümlelik kısa bir paragraf yaz. En az beş farklı sıklık zarfı kullan (always, usually, often, sometimes, never + istersen rarely/occasionally). En az bir cümlede be fiili + zarf kullan.
- Rehber sorular: Sabah kaçta uyanırsın? Kahvaltıyı hangi sıklıkta yaparsın?
- İşe/okula nasıl gidersin? Hafta sonu neyi asla yapmazsın?
- Neyi sık sık, neyi nadiren yaparsın? Akşamları genelde ne yaparsın?
- Kontrol: Her zarf doğru yerde mi? (ana fiilden önce / be'den sonra)
Task: Write a short paragraph of 6-8 sentences describing your own daily routine. Use at least five different frequency adverbs (always, usually, often, sometimes, never + rarely/occasionally if you like). Use the verb be + adverb in at least one sentence.
- Guiding questions: What time do you wake up in the morning? How often do you have breakfast?
- How do you get to work/school? What do you never do at the weekend?
- What do you do often, what do you do rarely? What do you usually do in the evenings?
- Check: Is every adverb in the right place? (before the main verb / after be)
- Check: If you used 'never', you didn't put a second negative next to it, right?
Translation: I usually wake up at half past six. I always drink a glass of water first, and then I often check my phone. I am rarely late for work because I never take the same road twice — the traffic is terrible. At lunch, I sometimes eat with colleagues, but I usually eat alone at my desk. In the evening, I am always tired, so I hardly ever go out. On weekends, though, I never set an alarm!
Yer kuralını iki adımda öğretin: önce SADECE ana fiilli cümleler (I ___ eat), zarf refleksi oturunca be istisnasını ekleyin. İkisini aynı derste karıştırmak en yaygın kafa karışıklığını yaratır. Türk öğrencinin bir numaralı hatası 'she always is' olacaktır; bunu baştan işaretleyin ve 'is always' kalıbını koro hâlinde tekrarlatın.
Kavram kontrol soruları (CCQ): 'I always walk' — Do I walk every time? (Evet). 'She is never late' — Is she late sometimes? (Hayır, %0). 'He is always losing his keys' — Is this a habit or a complaint? (Şikâyet) — bu son soru B1 grubunu -ing nüansına hazırlar.
Etkinlik önerisi: 'Find someone who...' ayakta anket. Öğrenciler 'How often do you...?' sorularıyla sınıfta dolaşıp 'always/never' yanıtı veren birini bulur. Hem soru kalıbını hem zarf yerini iletişimsel biçimde çalıştırır. Alternatif: sıklık zarflı kartlarla 'human frequency line' — öğrenciler kendi rutinlerine göre sınıfta sıraya dizilir.
Teach the position rule in two steps: first ONLY sentences with a main verb (I ___ eat), and once the adverb reflex settles, add the be exception. Mixing the two in the same lesson creates the most common confusion. The Turkish student's number-one mistake will be 'she always is'; flag it from the start and have them repeat the 'is always' pattern in chorus.
Concept check questions (CCQ): 'I always walk' — Do I walk every time? (Yes). 'She is never late' — Is she late sometimes? (No, 0%). 'He is always losing his keys' — Is this a habit or a complaint? (Complaint) — this last question prepares the B1 group for the -ing nuance.
Activity suggestion: A standing 'Find someone who...' survey. Students walk around the class asking 'How often do you...?' questions and find someone who answers 'always/never'. It practises both the question pattern and adverb position communicatively. Alternative: a 'human frequency line' with frequency-adverb cards — students line up in class according to their own routines.
- Sıklık zarfları eylemin ne sıklıkta olduğunu söyler: always %100 → never %0.
- Altın kural: ana fiilden ÖNCE, be fiilinden SONRA. (I always walk / I am always late.)
- Yardımcı fiil varsa zarf yardımcıdan sonra, ana fiilden önce gelir (I have never tried it).
- En çok geniş zaman ile kullanılır çünkü rutin ve alışkanlık anlatır.
- never, rarely, hardly ever zaten olumsuzdur; yanlarına ikinci bir olumsuz koyma.
- usually/often/sometimes cümle başına/sonuna taşınabilir; always/never orta konumda kalır.
- Sıklık sorusu: How often do you...?
- İpucu kelimeleri güçlüdür ama garanti değildir; önce cümlenin fiiline bak.
- always + -ing rutin değil şikâyet anlatır (He is always complaining).
- Türkçe zarfı serbest gezdirir, İngilizce sabit tutar — bütün zorluk bu tek farkta.
- Frequency adverbs say how often an action happens: always 100% → never 0%.
- The golden rule: BEFORE the main verb, AFTER the verb be. (I always walk / I am always late.)
- If there is an auxiliary verb, the adverb comes after the auxiliary and before the main verb (I have never tried it).
- It is used most with the present simple because it describes routines and habits.
- never, rarely, hardly ever are already negative; don't put a second negative next to them.
- usually/often/sometimes can be moved to the start/end of the sentence; always/never stay in mid-position.
- Frequency question: How often do you...?
- Signal words are strong but not a guarantee; look at the sentence's verb first.
- always + -ing describes not a routine but a complaint (He is always complaining).
- Turkish moves the adverb freely, English keeps it fixed — the whole difficulty is in this single difference.
