- Zamanlar: Present Simple, Present Continuous, Past Simple, Present Perfect ve Future (will / be going to). Aralarındaki farkı zaman zarflarından tanıyın (örn. "yesterday" = Past Simple, "already/yet" = Present Perfect).
- Modallar: can, could, must, should, have to, might. "You should see a doctor" gibi öneri/zorunluluk anlamlarını netleştirin.
- Edatlar: in / on / at (zaman ve yer), to, for, with. Bunlar sık sık boşluk doldurma sorusudur.
Her gün 20-25 dakika konu tekrarı, ardından 15-20 soru çözün. Yanlışlarınızı bir deftere hata günlüğü olarak yazın; bu defter son hafta altın değerinde olacak. Günde 10 yeni kelimeyle kelime çalışmasını da bugünden başlatın.
2. Hafta: Kelime, Bağlaçlar ve Cümle Yapısı
İkinci hafta kelime hazinesini ve cümleleri birbirine bağlayan yapıları güçlendirir:
- Sık kelimeler: Günlük hayat, okul, sağlık, seyahat, teknoloji temalarında en çok geçen 300-400 kelimeyi hedefleyin. Kelimeyi tek başına değil, örnek cümleyle ezberleyin.
- Bağlaçlar: because, so, but, although, however, while, if. "Although it was raining, we went out" gibi zıtlık kalıpları sınavın gözdesidir.
- Phrasal verbs: get up, look for, turn on, give up gibi temel kalıpları öğrenin.
- Kelime türleri: Aynı kökten isim/sıfat/fiil ayrımı (success / successful / succeed). Boşluğun türünü cümledeki konuma bakarak bulmayı öğrenin.
Bu hafta günlük 10-15 kelime devam etsin; hafta sonu geçmiş tüm kelimeleri tek oturumda tekrar edin. Öğrendiğiniz kelimeleri kısa cümlelerde kullanmak akılda kalıcılığı ikiye katlar.
3. Hafta: Okuma Anlama ve Hız
Üçüncü hafta okuma becerisine ve zaman yönetimine odaklanır. Yaklaşık 110 dakikada 50 soru, soru başına ortalama iki dakikadan biraz fazla süre demektir; bu rahat bir tempo ama okuma parçalarında oyalanırsanız daralır.
- Önce soru, sonra metin: Kısa parçalarda soruları hızlıca görün, sonra cevabı ararken metni tarayın (skimming/scanning).
- Ana fikir vs. ayrıntı: "What is the text mainly about?" tipi sorularda ilk ve son cümleler yol gösterir.
- Çıkarım soruları: Metinde doğrudan yazmayan ama ima edilen bilgiyi arayın; abartılı ya da metinde hiç geçmeyen seçenekleri eleyin.
- Bilinmeyen kelime paniği yok: Her kelimeyi bilmek zorunda değilsiniz; bağlamdan tahmin etmeyi çalışın.
The UDSP (MEB Foreign Language Proficiency Exam for International Diploma/Certificate Programs) is an exam that should not be confused with the academic ÜDS/YÖKDİL; it measures the foreign language proficiency of international-program students at the implementing schools. It has a multiple-choice structure of about 50 questions lasting about 110 minutes; it generally targets language skills at the A2-B1 level. English and German are held as separate exams; in this article we focus on English. Since the passing bar can vary from school to school, we won't give an exact cutoff score here; but I can say it is an exam that can be passed comfortably with solid preparation.
The most critical factThe UDSP is not the same exam as the academic ÜDS/YÖKDİL. It is an exam that measures the language proficiency of MEB international-program students, everyday-themed and at the A2-B1 level; studying with the expectation of dense academic texts leads you in the wrong direction.
If we have 4 weeks, dividing them up without wasting any is very important. The plan below has a specific focus each week, fits into 45-60 minutes a day and puts practice tests at the center. Even if you're not starting from scratch, this routine quickly closes your gaps.

Let's Get to Know the Exam: What Will You Face?
UDSP English is largely built on grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension. The typical question types are:
- Sentence completion: Choosing the appropriate tense, preposition, conjunction or word for the blank.
- Vocabulary/synonym: Finding the option closest in meaning to a word in the sentence.
- Grammatical structure: Recognizing patterns such as correct tense agreement, modals and conditional sentences.
- Short reading passages: Reading a paragraph and finding the main idea, a detail or an inference.
- Dialogue completion: Choosing the appropriate response in everyday conversation.
The A2-B1 level means texts of moderate length themed around daily life, school, travel, work and general knowledge rather than dense academic texts. So there's no need to panic; if the basic structures are solid, the job is half done.
Week 1: Basic Grammar and Tenses
The first week is devoted to solidifying the foundation. At the A2-B1 level, the structures that generate the most questions are clear; put your energy here:
- Tenses: Present Simple, Present Continuous, Past Simple, Present Perfect and Future (will / be going to). Recognize the difference between them from the time adverbs (e.g. "yesterday" = Past Simple, "already/yet" = Present Perfect).
- Modals: can, could, must, should, have to, might. Clarify the suggestion/obligation meanings, such as "You should see a doctor."
- Prepositions: in / on / at (time and place), to, for, with. These are frequently fill-in-the-blank questions.
Each day, do 20-25 minutes of topic review, then solve 15-20 questions. Write your mistakes in a notebook as a mistake log; this notebook will be worth its weight in gold in the final week. Also start vocabulary work from today, with 10 new words a day.
Week 2: Vocabulary, Conjunctions and Sentence Structure
The second week strengthens your vocabulary and the structures that connect sentences to one another:
- Frequent words: Target the 300-400 most common words in the themes of daily life, school, health, travel and technology. Memorize a word not on its own but with an example sentence.
- Conjunctions: because, so, but, although, however, while, if. Contrast patterns like "Although it was raining, we went out" are exam favorites.
- Phrasal verbs: Learn basic patterns such as get up, look for, turn on, give up.
- Word forms: Distinguishing noun/adjective/verb from the same root (success / successful / succeed). Learn to find the form of the blank by looking at its position in the sentence.
Continue with 10-15 words a day this week; over the weekend, review all the past words in a single session. Using the words you've learned in short sentences doubles retention.
Week 3: Reading Comprehension and Speed
The third week focuses on reading skill and time management. About 50 questions in 110 minutes means, on average, a little more than two minutes per question; this is a comfortable pace, but it gets tight if you linger on the reading passages.
- Question first, then text: In short passages, quickly look at the questions, then scan the text while searching for the answer (skimming/scanning).
- Main idea vs. detail: In "What is the text mainly about?" type questions, the first and last sentences guide you.
- Inference questions: Look for information not written directly in the text but implied; eliminate exaggerated options or ones that never appear in the text.
- No panic over unknown words: You don't have to know every word; practice guessing from context.
This week solve at least one reading set every day and time yourself. Don't just mark your mistakes; write down why you got them wrong (didn't I know the word, was it rushed, did I fall into the trap). Keep up vocabulary work without cutting back.
Week 4: Practice Tests, Analysis and Final Touches
The final week is entirely a week of real exam simulation. The aim is not to learn new topics but to reinforce what you've learned under exam conditions:
- Full practice test: In a quiet environment, with a timer, without breaks, solve 50-question practice tests. Aim for at least 3 full practice tests in the week.
- Detailed analysis: After each practice test, review your mistakes together with your mistake log. If the same topic keeps coming up, review it that day.
- Guessing strategy: Since the UDSP is multiple choice, don't leave blanks; you can raise your chances even just by elimination. Mark the question you're unsure of and move on, then come back.
- Last 2 days: Don't start a new topic. Review your mistake log, the frequently confused grammar points and your word list. Let your mind be rested on the morning of the exam.
Small Habits That Will Help in These 4 Weeks
- Keep a mistake log: This is the shortest way not to make the same mistake twice.
- A little every day, but regularly: Not 5 hours one day a week, but 45 minutes every day is far more effective.
- Internalize the timing from the start: Solve questions against the clock from the very first week; don't let time pressure be a surprise on the exam.
- Learn words with sentences: Context, rather than a bare list, boosts retention.
"Not 5 hours one day a week, but 45 minutes every day — on this exam, routine pays off more than volume.
In short, UDSP English is an exam that measures basic grammar, vocabulary and reading skill at the A2-B1 level and, with a good program, can be prepared for comfortably in 4 weeks. If you apply, in order, the weeks of basic tenses, vocabulary and conjunctions, reading-speed, and practice-analysis, you will enter exam day with both knowledge and confidence. You can support this plan by practicing plenty each week with the free question bank and modules on Gringlizce. Study regularly; the rest will follow.
