Selin started at Baytek in March. On her first day, she was very nervous because she didn't know anybody, and the office was big and full of new faces. Her manager, Mrs. Aydın, met her at the reception at nine o'clock, showed her the office and introduced her to the design team. There were four designers in the team, but two of them were at a conference in Ankara that week, so the room was quiet.
In her first week, Selin didn't design anything. She read documents, watched training videos and made notes. It wasn't exciting, but it was useful, because she learned how the company worked. She also had lunch with Mark, an engineer from London. He told her about the projects, and he gave her one important piece of advice: "Ask questions — nobody thinks your questions are stupid."
In April, Selin got her first real task: a new logo for a small hotel in Izmir. She worked on it for two weeks, and she made three different designs. The client didn't like the first design, and Selin was sad about it, but the second design was perfect for them. The hotel used it on its website, and Mrs. Aydın was very happy with the result.
In May, Selin had a difficult month. She was ill for a week, so she stayed at home and missed an important meeting. But her team helped her: Mark sent her his notes, and a teammate finished one of her tasks. At the end of the month, Mrs. Aydın gave her some good news: Selin's work was strong, and after the summer she can join the new mobile project.

It is ten o'clock on a Tuesday morning, and the Baytek office is very busy. In the main room, there are about twenty people at their desks, and everybody is doing something different.
Selin is sitting next to the window. She is working on a new design for a client, and she is listening to music with her headphones. She can work very fast when the music is on. Behind her, Mark is talking on the phone with a client from Germany. The client would like some changes to the project plan, so Mark is writing everything in his notebook. He can speak a little German, but they are speaking English because it is easier for both of them.
In the meeting room, there is a big presentation on the screen. Mrs. Aydın is presenting the new mobile project to six people. She is explaining the plan, and everybody is making notes. There is some coffee on the table, but there isn't any milk, so Ali is walking to the kitchen to get some.
In the kitchen, two engineers are waiting for the coffee machine. One of them is telling a funny story, and the other one is laughing. Zeynep, the assistant, is preparing a room for a guest: an important client would like to visit the office at eleven o'clock, and she wants everything to be perfect.
Only one person is not busy: the office cat, Pamuk. He is sleeping on a warm chair near the printer, and he isn't listening to anybody. The employees can hear the phones, the machines and the voices, but Pamuk can sleep in every situation!
